At first I thought this wouldn’t be a big deal because Brees’s comments are objectively not controversial.

But I was wrong. It’s bad. Real bad.

Weren’t Dak’s comments about this even stronger than Brees? Actually curious to see what comes of that

Owners have to be a little worried here. I guess the players are clueless or their ego is clouding their reality, but the majority of football fans do not want politics intertwined.

The NFLs ratings plummeted over the last kneeling media driven fiasco. I promise you the owners are very aware of the likelihood that it will happen again this season.

Hell put out some generic apology, the cancel machine will move on to someone else, and I have a hard time believing the team will feel too hard about it once the season starts

Not recent, but Dak has said virtually the same thing in regards to the kneeling.

I’m getting obliterated by these cucks on r/nfl for suggesting brees isn’t racist.

Cancel 2020.

Yeah I just looked them up and they were pretty similar though his reasoning was different

quote:

"I never protest during the anthem, and I don't think that's the time or the venue to do so," Prescott said last month. "The game of football has always brought me such a peace, and I think it does the same for a lot of people, a lot of people playing the game, a lot of people watching the game, a lot of people that have any impact of the game. So when you bring such a controversy to the stadium, to the field, to the game, it takes away. It takes away from that. It takes away from the joy and the love that football brings to a lot of people.

"So for me, I'm all about making a change, making a difference, and I think this whole kneeling and all that was all about just raising awareness. The fact that we're still talking about social injustice years later, I think we've got to that point. I think we've proved and we know that there's social injustice. So I'm for taking a next step that whatever that step may be for action, and not just kneeling. I've always believed in standing up for what I believe in, and that's what I'm going to continue to do."

He then proceeded to give a “I didn’t stutter” double down a few months later which is pretty awesome

quote:

"I made my statements. I stand by what I said," Prescott said Sunday. "Some people may have misunderstood or whatever, but I know what I said, and I feel strongly about what I said. It is what it is."

Sportscenter put his quote on the screen but of course they left out the part Drew said about the 60’s and civil rights.

Only thing this entire thing is doing is guaranteeing a trump landslide this November

The only reason an idiot like trump was able to win was because of cancel culture. Somehow, the libs didn’t realize that and are fricking tripling down on it during election season

The middle ground half arse soy people, you know the type that shops at bougie grocery stores and wears flannel with chinos and chukka boots and has a nice beard (you) and the 10 speed bike heroes (salmon), can’t stand this cancel culture bullshite.

The libs somehow think they will win y’all over with this, but it drives y’all further away

0 soy, but close enough.

I really honestly didn’t want to vote for trump again. I might write in drew brees.

Agreed, the comment Brees made in and of itself isn't anything we didn't know 4 years ago and shouldn't be that explosive, but any comment other than, "Black Power! Down with Whitey!" is going to be met with backlash.

Brees will get hammered even more if he says something like that now. He has no choice but to apologize if he wants it to go away and I’m sure he will

Or you can be black, and for the most part the media will let it slide
