Altuve can do it but he can't afford anymore injuries. The covid year and missing the first month last year due to a broken hand certainly made 3k hits less certain. He keeps himself in great shape and bat's leadoff and his bat to ball skills haven't eroded. He will need to play at a high level the next 3 years and then probably DH a couple years in his late 30s

I don’t see it. Players today want to hit the long ball.

Freeman has 538 hits over the last 3 seasons, Altuve has had 426.
They are the same age.
How is Altuve's chance better than Freemans lol
now do the last 4 seasons, or 5
cherry picking stats is lazy, “blogger”

They aren’t getting younger. Altuve isn’t going to get hurt less

and last 5 seasons
Freeman has +154 hits vs Altuve over that span.
Altuve has averaged 128hits per year over the last 5 seasons.
Freeman has more than 1 season's worth of Altuve's average season of hits over that timeline.

Freddie will get there if he wants to. His swing is so short and compact for a big guy, that I can’t see him falling off a cliff. It will be a very gradual decline. He could still be relatively the same hitter in 5 years that he is now.
He’s a family guy, though, and I know his son just got diagnosed with some health issues (no idea if it’s an acute thing or something he’ll have to deal with his whole life). So he may hang em up earlier than he has to. But I doubt it. If he gets close, he’ll stick around to get there.
And he’s probably a HOFer anyway, but he doesn’t have big power numbers for an all-time 1B. I think both achievements will matter to him, and he’ll want to get to 3,000 to make him a no-doubt HOFer. Even though he could still get in without it.
I think Altuve’s size could wind up hurting him in the backend of his 30s. He could start getting nagging injuries after playing so long at that size and it could wind up hurting his range at 2B and slow his bat speed down a bit. If he gets close and wants to chase it, I think the Astros kinda owe it to him to let him try with as much as he’s me at for that organization. But they’ll likely be sacrificing more than the Dodgers (or wherever Freeman might wind up finishing) would by letting Freddie chase it.
Way too early to really even bother talking about anybody else on the list.

Man, M.L.B. sucks now. No one can hit .300 and no one can sniff 3,000 hits.

1) people are prioritizing walks and not swinging at bad pitches
2) everyone throws 94+
2) everyone throws 94+

Both will get 3k if they choose to play long enough, and if Altuve injury history doesn’t turn out to be completely debilitating on the back end of his 30’s
