Why will next year be better?

I see David Price and others are sitting out this year and that is their choice. But why will next year be any better? This virus (or another) will be around next year there will not be a vaccine, death rate is super low. So what will change next year that will make it safer?

Yes. The treatment will continue to improve. The fear will subside. Athletes will still need to earn a salary. Trump will be gone. Life goes on.

Gottlieb and Fauci both say there will be antibody treatments by the end of the year and a vaccine is a real possibility by Q1 2021.
Treatments will get better. Additionally with the current rates of transmission, seroprevalence rates will be quite high throughout the country, except maybe places like Hawaii and Alaska.
I don’t see how someone in good faith doesn’t think that things will get better by next March or April.
ETA: will Price die from the virus this year or have a particularly bad case? Highly unlikely, but I don’t know the guy’s life (whether he lives with old people, immuno-compromised people, etc).
