So it’s just classic white guilt pretty much? God forbid a team with white players does well. We only like teams that are full of blacks!

I have Duke graduates in my family and they are the classiest people you would ever met. Duke also doesn’t hire coaches that look the other way at black players raping white girls on campus. So they don’t really have much in common with the average SEC school.

I actually grew up a Duke fan of sorts because NC was the team back then and I got tired of watching them win all the time. Duke was the underdog back then - but now its fatigue from watching them wiin all the time - same as UConn.

Past Duke teams were douchey. People carried that hatred to this team. Also, seeing the Boozer twins commercials 55 times every game doesn’t help.

If you watched CBB in the 80s Duke was just another team, nothing special.
Then ESPN got big, and Vitale got big and suddenly Duke was the "It girl" for the Network to the exclusion of others and nobody knew why but it was cute at first, the "Cameron crazies" and that morphed into it being tiresome, then insufferable and finally into loathing.
It didn't feel organic... It felt like Duke was installed by a company that was starting to completely own the sports landscape.
People are wise enough to naturally despise what feels inauthentic. When Duke finally won a Title, the tarmac had already been paved and their ascension over the next Decade felt surprisingly dirty. That has stuck to this day.

It is true. Every team I am a fan of, I find myself hating the fans of that team who post on message boards.
