Martin still text messages and voicemails. Incognito has a bunch of guys saying he was just joshin'.

But Incognito was just joshin', and the sentiment in the locker room is that it was horse play between two good buddies and Martin thought it was comical.

I don't know about y'all, but my friends and I talk shite to each other like that all the time. We know we aren't serious about what we say, and we brush it off. But if someone does strike a nerve, we are man enough to confront one another, and say "Hey man, I didn't like what you said. Can you maybe not do that in the future"

They are not friends. They are colleagues.

I josh with my friends too. But I chose my friends. I don't choose my colleagues.

I'm anxious to here some info from David Shaw.

I think Martin has mental issues.

Everyone at the Dolphin's organization has stated that Incognito was the closest thing to a friend Martin had on the team.

It doesn't sound like he was well liked outside of Incognito

id guess by refusing to pay at the rookie dinner he probably burned a lot of bridges quickly

Only if a normal person tries to say it. I'm not so sure Incognito is even remotely normal.

what exactly are you expecting to hear? former Stanford teammates and Harbaugh (his HC at Stanford longer than Shaw was) have defended and spoke highly of Martin. I can't see Shaw not doing the same.

Imagine if your best friend called you up (sober or drunk) and left a message on your phone saying "hey you slapdick piece of shite, I'm going to shite down your throat if you don't call me back, later"

How would you interpret that phone call?
Joke or threat?

I doubt he will say anything, but I would be interested to hear that too.

Is this actually a case of one friend drunk-dialing another?

I'm not sure we have enough information about their relationship or the context of the call to say whether this analogy is applicable.

One more time-- it's called cya. A lot of people are going to feign knowledge to show lack of involvement.

I personally don't give a shite about it.

It's a fricking joke of a story.

Anything that corroborates either side.

Whether Martin was an aloof outcast who shied away from a team concept, or if it was totally opposite of what has been said about his time in Miami.

I think more people have something to lose by sticking up for Incognito. Why would they go along the side of the "Media Villain" if they were trying to cover their arse?

Because Jeff Ireland sucks more than ESPN's desire to become TMZ.

Its totally plausible that he was viewed totally different from the Dolphins and from the people at Stanford during his respective times there

Shaw could come out and say he got along great with everyone at Stanford, and be 100 percent correct....and the Dolphins players/coaches at the same time could say he never really fit in and also be 100 percent correct

Its safe to assume that the cultures are way different at Stanford than they are in an NFL locker room

Maybe because they need/want him back? They're already missing Martin. Losing two starters on the line is not good for a team who is on the playoff bubble at best.

Or maybe because the entire team leadership was in on this? Martin is on the outside now. There aren't a whole lot of incentives for sticking up for him.

So, yeah I can see the CYA angle.

you're more likely to get that from someone like Richard Sherman than Shaw. Sherman and Martin's careers overlapped some, and we know Sherman loves to talk.

outside of miami teammates and coaches have been positive, his pre-draft mental work up was extremely positive. miami teammates have been the only ones that have beat him up at all. if he walked into a lockerroom and didnt want to partake in their "traditions" but wanted to be well liked and a leader id imagine hed be very conflicted the last year and come off as an outsider that doesnt know what to do with the group.

also this isnt the whole organization coming out for richie - we have a handful of players saying JM was an outsider or friend of RI, and the organization itself staying silent beyond a "we had no idea" which seems to be untrue given the info about irelands advice
