I thought they were talking about building a track in tangipahoa parish somewhere at one point.

We are far too sophisticated, especially the north Louisiana folks

It's hard to gauge interest of a state on NASCAR without a track as well.

Check out NASCAR's roots - bootleggers in the Appalachian regions (ala NC, TN).

NASCAR has always been a sport with roots further east than Louisiana (Charlotte/Daytona are hotbeds), and that where the sport is always going to be most popular.

California has history in NASCAR as well, one of the founders was from Northern Ca and promoted races there.

And I've never been to a live NASCAR event before, but I hear great things about them. If Louisiana had a track, you best believe people would attend.

I've been to Bristol twice and it's a good time.

If Louisiana had a track that brought in a couple of cup races every year, it would be a lot bigger around here.

If NASCAR put a track in north Louisiana somewhere, the state would embrace it more.

Before the track in Ft Worth was built, there was rumors of a nascar people looking at a huge tract of land east of Shreveport.

Absolutely. You bring a party to Louisiana and people will flock. Look, we might not go full Ricky Bobby with dedication to drivers and such, but I think Cup races would be a big deal around here.

Yes, it was...and I think the idea is still being kicked around.

I've been to a few Talladega races. Very few people go there for the race itself. It's more about the atmosphere than it is anything else. It's essentially one huge outdoor party that lasts all weekend.

Yeah, this is the main reason, imo. If there was an actual race in state then I think it'd be much much bigger.

The same reason Alabama as a whole couldn't really care less about the NFL - there is no NFL franchise in Alabama. Put a track in Louisiana and the outlook might change real quick.
