I actually had someone on the Poli Board tell me the other day that Nascar and the NHL were both more popular than the NBA.

NASCAR WAS the 2nd most popular sport behind the NFL for awhile in the early/mid-2000's, I believe.

NHL? I got no idea where that shite came from

NBA playoffs are awesome. My favorite time of the year. Anyone that thinks the game is nothing but dunks and threes doesn't watch any games. Defense is better than its ever been and teams certainly run set plays.

There are usually two or maybe three compelling first round series but it doesn't get interesting across the board until the second round

This. My favorite teams to watch have been SA and Indiana.

When the point of the game is to foul, and the last 2 minutes take up the majority of the game. That sport sucks. Having a player go to the line 20+ times a game is ridiculous. half the teams make the play offs. having 4 quarters and continuous clock stoppage is boring when the teams pretty much score exactly the same way back and forth. the season is too long, the playoffs are too long. every thing ab the NBA sucks.

This post describes a bit of why I don't find the NBA to be very entertaining. I loved it as a kid but haven't been a fan for a very long time now>

The games are too long. 12 minute quarters is too much IMO, especially when games are so high scoring. The scoring becomes redundant and I don't want to tune in until the 2nd half.

The seasons are too long. My exact same gripe with MLB. There are so many games that it is easy to be ho-hum about winning or losing for most of the season. Shorten the regular season.

Too many playoff teams. I mean, there's just too many. Cheapens the regular season and cheapens the first round of the playoffs.

I would like to see the shot clock increased to what it is in the college game. I also prefer the possession arrow to the jump ball.

The NBA is extremely boring to me now. I loved the Mavs/Heat series a few years back but that was the exception rather than the rule. I've basically tuned the NBA out until deep into the playoffs. I'll follow the Hornets but do not feel that the games are compelling entertainment. As bad as LSU has been of late, I've felt more interested in watching them, and start to finish, than the Hornets or other NBA games.

The joy I receive from watching the games is just not there. No doubt the league dynamic and personalities don't come close to comparing to what it was when I grew up a fan in the early to late 90's, but it's more than just that. It's just kind of boring now.

Some of the people in this thread need to familiarize themselves with Grantland (Zach Lowe especially).

Lots of informative articles on the recent evolution of the NBA defenses and the offensive response.

Considering how readily available information like this is it amazes me that some people still seriously call NBA street ball.

They call it street ball, because they see black people playing it. These are the same people who prefer college ball to the NBA game ( I never understood this).

i've seen 2 posts who want the shot clock to increase...one so that teams can run an offense trying not to score

after what we saw in the terrible late 90s/early 00s era of all defense, why does anybody think this is a good thing?

people always criticize the NBA now for not playing defense, but we just left an era of all defense, and TONS of people stopped watching the NBA. if NBA coaches could, they would run a defense-based, time-wasting and risk-averse system
