Hockey is a great sport but as a southerner, you have to spend time watching it to educate yourself on the rules and strategies and that takes significant time that most people don't have the patience to deal with. As a TV sport I have no problem watching it but you have to pay close attention and can't be posting on tigerfroppings during games and again, most people don't have the patience for that.

When there was a price to pay for slewfooting, running goalies, etc. liberites weren't taken to anywhere near the same degree. Now punks are making a career out of cheap shotting superstars.

I don't know anyone who hates it, most people I know are pretty apathetic towards it.
I think it's mostly due to people here not having a connection to it. I don't know anyone who grew up playing hockey.

Hockey is my favorite sport to watch live, but I think people in the south really just don't grow up with it. I miss having the Brass/Kingfish around, those were always entertaining.
