He did more for LSU than they did for him. They lose 2 maybe 3 games without him making huge momentum changing plays, they don't go undefeated, Etc...he could've gone to any SEC school and been a stud.

I'm not going to lie. I don't really care what the players do. On ANY team. Just pointing out how ridiculous it is to hate Jones...which many LSU do.

Btw didn't Upshaw's gf hit him in the face? Anyways, I was more disappointed when he kicked a player on some bad team they played a couple years ago.

you really are that stupid arent you?

If it wasnt for LSU, TM would prob be dead or in jail in nola.
You don't live that lifestyle down there and stay out of trouble.
I'm pretty sure everyone on this board would agree.

We have no idea if he wasted his talents or not yet. He fricked up at LSU, but he also brought with him the national spotlight, a Heisman spotlight, and a lot of success in huge moments

If he gets it together at some other point of his life, good for him.

Greatest first two years for a Tiger defensively in recent years. Has LSU ever had a playmaker on defense better than Mathieu?

I think he's a good guy underneath all the bullshite, really. Just a shy, naive guy, that never really got comfortable with all the attention he got.

fwiw i think it's commendable for anyone that falls off the tracks to get their life back in order. Football is irrelevant.

It's an opinion on a college football player there is no "truth"

You really need to get over this self righteousness

Yeah LSU is the only school he could've played for, and believe it or not, there are black kids in NOLA who smoke weed and manage not to be thugs. Smokin weed =/= being a gang banger

The majority of LSU fans are pulling Mathieu to succeed in life and the NFL; he got a raw deal with his birth parents, but he has a loving adoptive family and he has to grow up and be accountable. I think he will do it.

While he was at LSU he didn't waste anything. Are you saying he didn't play 100%, bc that's what wasting implies.

He lost the opportunity to continue showing us his talents on the field through poor decision making.

You just want to shite on other LSU fans.

The hypocrisy here is ridiculous.

If this was a Bama player, ZERO LSU fans would be saying the same thing. They would all be making negative remarks about how he will do it again in the NFL and how he should not even be getting the chance.

To take it a step beyond that, if he wasn't such a game changer, then people wouldn't really care so much either. People put these guys up on a pedestal and then to to react weirdly when their hero turns out to be less than heroic.

Very few threads are started about how people want Jordan Jefferson to turn things around. I don't see tons of Bama fans talking about how they want our felons to fix their lives. Jimmy Johns isn't a big hero. I don't recall the UT gas station crew getting sympathy. They didn't produce.

Guys like Orlando McCain people tend to root for because he produced and was a hero at Bama. Kenny Stabler has 8600 DUIs and people give him a pass because he is a legend.

It is a shame that TM7 wasted talent but he was just wasnt ready to deal with that level of fame. He pissed away millions of dollars. That being said, if he hadnt pissed it away he kinda has the maturity of a guy that would waste it anyhow. Maybe coming back to earth will help the guy but I just dont see why some people still put him on a pedestal. Talent doesn't make up for everything in life.

Wasted? He is one of the handful of defensive players to ever be a Heisman finalist. He won the Bednarik for best defensive player in football. He won an SEC title and played for a national title. Now, he might have accomplished more had he not smoked pot, but what he did accomplish was hardly a waste. It's actually remarkably impressive.

I'm rooting for him because he seems like a good kid and he wasn't hurting other people. It's not he's some violent criminal. He smoked pot. I really, really don't care. Half of pro athletes smoke pot, and that's probably undershooting it.

He was stupid, but he more than paid the price for that. I hope he does well.

He was a heisman candidate as a defensive player and his team went to a national title game they wouldn't have played in if not for him.
