Rory would still be right up there. Remember the only defense in golf is the elements and yourself…

One could always argue Rory underachieved, sure But it’s just downright incorrect to say “his career won’t be close to Phil’s”
Whatcha mean?

I feel like I could never lose a debate about Rory underachieving and I think Phil will have the better career.

I mean it’s crazy to say Rory won’t even be close to Phil

He already is close

I hear you, and agree.

I don’t have as much of a point as I did when I first responded.

We’re probably on the same page.

He’s 20% behind Phil’s career. He’s not close, at all.

If you want to say he will be close by the time he’s done, that’s fine and a defendable position. But as usual, you’re fricking clueless about how professional golf works. Rory is quite literally a hall of fame career behind Phil at this point. He’s Zach Johnson or Justin Thomas’ career behind Phil as of today.

rory has been extremely healthy. He has 10 very good years of golf left

You are the one who has no clue how golf works to say “Rory won’t even come close to Phil’s career”

You simply put your foot in your mouth and can’t just say you screwed up. You completely hide from all the player of the year award and scoring average awards Rory ALREADY has over Phil…

And if he has a hall of fame career in that time period, he’ll be close to Phil

You didn’t know what the OWGR was like 18 months ago. I think Rory probably ends up with about 50 wins and MAYBE one more major. If that’s the case he’s VERY CLEARLY behind Phil. Somewhere around 8 less wins and less majors. You just penciling him in for Zach Johnson’s career from 36-46 is insane.

What your saying could apply to any individual sport. There are very few athletes in individual sports that can sustain a period of excellence over a few years. The ones that can, we call Legends.

This keeps getting better

So 50 wins and 5 majors “won’t even sniff the career” of 57 wins and 6 majors

Dude just give up

Got it

So Tom Watson ain’t even close to Gary player. Not even relevant galaxies for them

Tom Watson, player, and Palmer would all be considered to be extremely close career wise by almost everyone

Not in mingos world

No i totally agree. Phil rory basically equals and splitting hairs. I just mean a "phantom" perception being that phil maybe met expectations for himself and maybe rory has not. But phil won a couple late majors and roey hasnt even entered those years yet. Plus Phil was playing during tiger while rory was post tiger basically and the world wanted him to be the "Next tiger" which ties into the theory of "rory hasn't lived up to expectations". Mickelson had lofty post arizona st expectations but noone knew that expectations were to dominate and win 10-14 majors or you were a disappointment. If that makes any sense i cant say it right. The stats speak for themselves. Both all time greats.

yeah, it doesn't make any sense to say 50 wins and 5 majors isn't close to 57 and 6 lol

UNLESS you need it to make sense for your argument to

*which is weird since Mingo wasn't even the original guy to claim noone would sniff Phil's career success.

Rory adds a win, his second Players championship (AKA the 5th major), and becomes only the 8th golfer ever to win multiple Players championships (one not being Phil)
