Why do QBs wear hats on the sidelines?

Do they have deals with New Era or something? You see QBs and usually only QBs with hats on when their helmets are off, and I've never heard an official reason on it.

Is it a team deal, player deal, etc?

ETA - I know the NFL has a deal with New Era, but I'm asking specifically why QBs wear hats at such a disproportionate level compared to everyone else in uniform on the sidelines.

, those weirdos in the game thread are talking about the Browns coaching search. They're useless.

You need to watch your tone. It's the holiday season for Christ's sake!

They're the only active players that do it though. As soon as they've debriefed on the sideline they put on their hat. I assume it's a marketing deal.

For the backups it's to make them easily identifiable for signaling in to the QB on the field (at least below the pro level).

They’re also shown on tv way more than other players.

Which is what makes me think it's a marketing thing.

Everything they wear is a marketing thing though. Selling jerseys, hats, jackets, salute to service stuff, color rush, etc.

I understand that, but I'm talking about QBs and hats specifically. You don't see TEs hanging on the bench with a hat on.

Sean Lee doesn’t even bring his helmet to the sidelines any longer. That’s his official game day headgear.
