Why do people try and use injuries to discredit the Raptors' title?

People often complain that the Raptors didn't have to face a fully healthy Warriors team. The fact of the matter is that the fully healthy 2017-2019 Warriors were an unfair team, achieving that level thanks to poaching KD from the Thunder. The 2018 Rockets were a similarly powerful team, but they attained their greatness fair and square.

KD being absent for the majority of the series simply made the Warriors a fair opponent again. It's not like 2015 at all, where the injuries to Kyrie and Love turned a title contender into a sacrificial lamb (which the Warriors still struggled with). And while I believe the Warriors would've won Game 6 had Klay not gotten hurt, the Raptors would've won Game 5 had the unfairly-acquired KD not played, so it all evened out in the end.

The bottom line is the Raptors' title (along with nearly every other NBA title) is legit, while the Warriors' 3 recent titles are the ONLY tainted titles (2015: injuries, 2017: KD, 2018: KD/CP3 injury/bad officiating in Game 7). That is a FACT.

because people are stupid.
its a talking point for argument sake, but they won.

i mean people discredit GSW for beating a kevin love-less and kyrie-less cleveland. But does anyone discredit GSW for zaza'ing kawhi when SA looked like the better team.

Nobody will ever be allowed to forget that the Houston Rockets were the 2018 regular season champions.

Golden state has been the best team in the nba for 5 years with every team at full health. The only team in those 5 years that truly could even challenge them is Houston the last two. That’s is why coach kerr has said Houston is the best team they have faced since he been there.

They weren't at full health for the majority of the playoffs

Based on the playoffs

Toronto > Golden State with KD injured > Houston/Portland

No. Klay ALSO missed one game and the end of a second.. If it was just Kevin down GSW woulda took them down pretty easily.

WBB, 2015 they were at full health and gave up 2 games to a team with Matthew dellavedova as the #2 option. 2016 they actually did lose in the finals while being healthier than they were against Houston in 2018.

WBB, the warriors have been anything but healthy against Houston the last 2 years. the clippers were the only team that played actual healthy golden state this year, and they provided a more legitimate challenge winning the same amount of games, on the road, against the healthy version.

And of course, Toronto faired infinitely better against the injured warriors than Houston did.

Actually that’s not what he said at all. But given your history of literally making shite up to attempt to pass off as fact, this isn’t surprising.

WBB, Toronto was 2-2 in games that klay played fully with no Durant. Houston was 0-1.25 in games that klay played completely with no Durant.

My favorite part of this post is OP repeatedly saying the Warriors "unfairly acquired KD".

Why?

Because its true.

Cousins
Klay
Durant

Fwiw
No champ won vs 100% finalist the past 4 years and houston was up when cp3 hammy in west games

They say it because its true.

PS your whine about fair without kd is childish.

Stupid thread

The warriors have an extra $35 million in cap space without KD. Give them a couple $17 mil guys instead of KD and they win again. They almost won with half the roster hurt.

All the teams play by the same salary cap rules

It’s a title with an asterisk.
Everyone will always remember that
If I was in Toronto I’d be ashamed

I don’t do asterisk. But each title has a story a narrative. This “all titles are the same” or “as long as you win the title nothing else matters” narratives is casual fan fodder. Those of us who really follow the league are able to analyze a little more and see that some titles are better than others. Some are more of an accomplishment than others. The last two that weren’t won by Gsw were very much influenced by injury. Very very much influenced tbt.

How were the Warriors built any less fair than the 2018 Rockets?

Simple. The Warriors, thanks to the fluke cap spike, were able to poach an MVP-caliber player from a fellow title contender to stack onto their already title-contending team. The Rockets never did such a heinous act.
