In a bizarre twist we were leading for Terry Bridgewateruntil we went after mettenberger,

He went to Louisville because of his ego, He could have win a NC at LSU.

Mett, Flynn and Russell were good college quarterbacks. What happens in the NFL does not determine how they were in college.

Tebow, White and Leinart were good in college but did not pan out at the next level.

LSU had was up and down with JJ but even then made the national title. And so far Jennings had a rough year.

Alabama just had a great college QB go pro. Sims was the a rookie senior. I think next year could be rough. They need to groom a freshman who can have multiple years.

or he could have come here and never gotten to play. what do you have confidence in? teddy being a star here or an afterthought like all the other big name QBs who come to BR. we have 7 years of a track record with miles

Programs of their stature should be able to get better QBs than Jennings, Sims, Jefferson, McElroy etc. Both schools always have great receiver talent and great defensive talent to support a good QB. Right now both schools are a QB short of going on potential multiple NC runs. So what's stopping the top QBs from just going to LSU or Bama and winning multiple NCs/Heismans? Why do they choose programs like USC and Ohio State instead?

It's a simple, simple answer. They want pure dual threat QBs, as Miles likes to run some option football. They also want QBs that can read a defense and play pro-style offense. Today's dual threat QBs are not running anything approaching a pro-style offense. In theory, their evaluations could be spot on, but these QBs are not ready to start day one. So when a prospect doesn't pan out or is kicked out, they are being forced to start much earlier than anticipated. Jennings should have been able to hold the fort for the year, allowing Harris to develop. Jennings has not panned out, and it was obvious Harris was not ready for prime time. I think Miles is terrified of ruining a QB with a season like JL's first non-redshirt year, and is overreacting by not throwing people into the fire when the year is not a championship year.

It will most likely be Coker for a season, but after that the guys coming up will have 3 or 4 years as the main guy.

I don't buy into that crap that's why.

Saban played Marcus Randall over JaMarcus & Flynn cuz they weren't ready yet. And every one bitched then too.

These coaches are trying to win now, they play the guys who can run the offense in practice. If Harris doesn't learn the plays he will never play regardless of arm strength

Les Miles just can't develop QBs, or offense for that matter. His little run every down mentality doesn't help either.

Think it has to do more with coaching and or the styles of offenses. Alabama recruits capable guys, and so does LSU.

Phillip Ely would have likely never started at Alabama but he was plenty good at Toledo. Those offenses let their QB sling the ball all over the yard. Saban has been a bit reluctant to let his QBs do this.

And this would be where you lost me.

I bet you also think Cardale Jones was heavily recruited and went to Ohio State to be a 3rd string QB over Alabama and LSU. It's how the coaches work with them and develop them. JT Barrett was the same way besides LSU kinda recruited him. 3 and low 4 stars respectively.

It's the system we run. Not the QBs.
