why bc they don't pay enough money?

Because the other 31 clubs have colluded to not hire someone they otherwise would. It should work the way it does in any other sector of the economy.

you probably believe he should have been paid in college

Yeah but that's for a different thread

how do you know he isn't on double secret probation for the crab legs incident?

you probably think Kris Bryant should be in the big leagues even if the Cubs think otherwise

you love the soccer leagues so much but we all aren't fans of Real Madrid or Manchester United... what if we like Elche or Burnley?

I don't think you really understand what I'm saying.

I think the teams should have to compete with each other to sign the best players coming out of school. Like the way baseball teams do for Japanese players.

I also don't believe in a salary cap, non-guaranteed contracts, or "restricted" free agency.

If another team wants a player that badly, they can get him. They have to weigh the cost-benefits of that though.

Nothing wrong with wanting that. It would be interesting, but it may make the final product worse and the market (i.e., the consumers) may not like to watch the sport. The market played a role in an attempt for that competitive balance (e.g., the draft).

Well then maybe in their next collective bargaining, if they want do that, they can agree upon that.

non-guaranteed contracts

???

In the real world you don't have guaranteed contracts. I have my job only as long as my boss thinks my production justifies my salary.

If you really support the free market, you'd support non-guaranteed contracts for athletes, unless the athlete negotiated a buyout for himself.

It's interesting/sad to listen to y'all defend the monopolistic corporatism that dominates American sports.

Why there have been multiple challenges to each league? The ABA was on the verge of failing, but the NBA absorb half of its teams and it died with dignity. There are multiple independent baseball leagues, but none of them can put together a product to rival MLB. What do you want us to be forced to attend/watch those games? Are we going to have a sports gestapo to enforce this policy? The XFL and UFL both in the last 15 years tried to create a league to challenge the NFL, but their products sucked and they folded? The NFL even helped the UFL get started because Congress was pressing them on anti-trust bullshite. The UFL just folded because it sucked.

And no it's not the best system, it's the worst. Both for the workers and the fans.

How is it the worst system?
Please tell me how a system that allows impoverished young males (since the female sports leagues suck we will leave them out) become millionaires by playing a fricking game is the worst possible system?
It is the best system for the fans because it has the best product on the field. That is why more ppl watch SEC football on saturdays than C-USA football. It is better to watch.

Take you socialist mumbo jumbo and move to France.
