competent front office
He has explicitly requested to go to two of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

no way does Pelicans trade him to Lakers, unless there is no one else offering anything remotely near what they offer.
i bet the will take less to stick it to the lakers, and the players lakers want to deal ain't difference makers. Boston has those to deal.

Competent front office?! Yet he wants to go to the Lakers? I bet you think Tom Benson still owns the Hornets.

Worst case is they suck next year and get a high draft pick to go with AD.

Some of you are in for a very rude awakening. He’s a very good player but there is a lot of truth in the KLove comparison.

AD has shown more Minnesota Kevin Love than he has Toronto Kawhi
AD at least led the Pels to the playoffs a couple of times. Love couldn’t even do that and was even accused of putting up empty stats during his time there. Bad comparison.

It boggles my mind Pels fans think like this. Talk about a losing mindset.
You're getting an unbelievable talent in Zion. Try to maximize your return on AD and shoot for championships. Don't intentionally take less talent, decrease your chances of winning something and then act shocked when if you deliver Zion mediocrity around him, he leaves you high and dry too.

He and AD’s stats were very similar, actually.
5 playoff wins is nothing to hang a hat on
Especially when Jrue is your second banana

Its not just about the Pelicans though. Its about the health of the entire league. If a 30 team league is to survive, the big market teams cant always have their way. The players are too stupid to understand, that eventually their pay will be affected; or maybe they just dont care about the players that come after them.
Small market teams will cease to exist if they dont have a chance to compete. A 10 team league is terrible for the players.

The thing is, the Pels have a chance. They have a generational physical talent, a good player locked down for 3 years in Jrue and some cap space about to open up.
Instead of trying to screw the Lakers, strike you blow for small markets by competing for rings. Look at the Bucks. Building around a top player can get you there.
I could never imagine being ok with my team intentionally getting a crappier deal just because I dislike the trading partner. Maximize your chances. There has never been a guy with the physical abilities Zion has, and you're not gonna maximize that?

You should learn about basketball and what constitutes a great player. Then you would get it.
You a soccer guy or something?
