I never really liked the NBA until Lebron came into the league. I'm not a Heat fan. In fact I'm not a fan of any team. I'm a fan of certain players(LBJ being my favorite) and good matchups, team wise. I like it when the Heat win simply because of Lebron. You'll never hear me actually root for them though.

I don't like Kobe but he's fun to watch so I hope the Lakers are good. Same with OKC and a few others. The Nuggets are tons of fun to watch this year. I think many NBA fans are somewhat like me...maybe?

So if/when lebrons contract expires and lets just say he signs with the bobcats, you would then be a bobcat fan?

What about when he retires? Will you just find another superstar to pull for?

What do you care? His loyalty is with players, your loyalty is with a team.

It doesn't make him any less of a fan than you.

I agree. And I can't imagine doing it for any other sport. Iv got guys I root for and guys I love to hate. Both are almost equally fun to watch.

How? I love basketball but no team sticked out to me growing up.

I started to watch Lebron and was very interested. Now I'm a fan.

If I don't like sports the way you like sports, I am wrong. Got it

nah most of us like our team we grew up with just like every other sport. The NBA is a star driven league for sure so people with no team latch on to the best players

So when my favorite player, who was the only reason I watched that team, leaves said team I'm supposed to just keep watching them?

I get why you think I'm wrong but it's not like I switch loyalties every year to the best team.

I didn't have a team because I honestly didn't like basketball. And I completely understand how lame it might be to like the best player.

I also think it might have to do with what type of person you are. I like Lebron and Tebow. One of my best friends hates them both and loves Kobe and KG and the like. He's a great guy but he gravitates towards players with bad reputations while I like guys who get hated on for little to no reason. It makes for great arguments though. Sports

b/c it defeats the whole purpose of sports and the civic pride that goes with your home town team or a team you picked up from your family or one you pick b/c none is close. Honestly nothing more is annoying esp at games dealing with people who are fans of a team just b/c of certain players.

I told you I was a lakers fan because of shaq. Kobe ran shaq off and the Lakers traded him.

Well now I feel like frick the Lakers, even if they made the right decision. It pissed me off.

I'm a Saints fan kind of regardless of players and LSU fan regardless of players.

Idc about MLB

what? LOL.

The whole purpose of sports from a fan's perspective is entertainment.

Everyone is entertained in their own way. If the guys who like LeBron and whatever team he is on are entertained by that, that is the point.

I understand why you disagree and get frustrated, but I'm not one of those star lovers that loved kobe then he has a few bad games and I'm like frick Kobe I love KD35

I understand why you feel your view is what sports are meant to be, but that's what is great about sports. They are different things for different people..

I'll just agree to disagree

We're talking about professional sports, not high school or college athletics.

You're basically saying that everyone should watch sports how you want them to watch it, not how they most enjoy watching it

Hell, not basically, that's exactly what you're saying.

I don't really care. I just find it interesting how people jump to whoever is the best team/player.

Kinda like how there are now patriot, saints, etc and now heat fans everywhere when just a few years ago they were absolutely terrible and you couldn't find a fan of theirs anywhere

I don't understand how someone could get any satisfaction when you pull for the best team year to year
