Why are Little League™ fields so small when half the kids are 6 feet tall?

They don't even make solid contact and it's a fricking homerun.

Yeah I'm mad.

People wanna see runs scored. Not 12 year olds in a pitchers duel.

Need to drug test these kids IMO. You know dads are encouraging Jr to juice.

No shite I'm in! Freddie freeman hit his first home run in a major League park at ten with an aluminum bat.

I thought about this the other day too. Think about how rare it is to see a fly ball out to the outfield in the LLWS. If its a fly ball, its usually a homerun. I would bet there are more home runs per game than outfield flyouts...

I love watching kids play baseball for the pure pride and passion of the game, but the LLWS is geared towards a show. There is no reason that 4'11" kids should be hitting oppo field HR's off the end of the bat. The field is designed to score runs and it does just that. Is it realistic to most LL games and travel ball games? No. But it does what it sets out to do and they are pretty dang successful at it.

The better answer is that these are the best little leaguers in the country. The average little leaguer isnt dropping bombs every other at bat. They use the same field dimensions everywhere, so if they moved the fence back another 25 feet (like they did a few years ago) regular kids would never hit home runs.
