I'm a Cardinals fan, and I hate Larussa for the way he treated Ozzie Smith at the end of his career but LaRussa is the correct answer. Hell of a coach. 1st class a-hole.

No doubt. You're right. Cox was arguably the best ever at managing a starting rotation
Not what I was referring to.
I was referring to guys like Paul Bryd and others and can't think of right now. One guy signed with the Yankees after Mazzone resurrected his career.Got a big payday

They are basically the opposite people in that regard.

Sure they made some retreads useful but Cox had Maddux Smoltz and Glavine for the majority of his run. TLR never had that kind of pitching talent to start with.

Does anyone really believe that LaRussa wouldn't have won multiple World Series with the 90's Braves rosters?
His A's teams were arguably more talented than the Braves and they still choked...so no.

I shared that sentiment for years, but came to realize that Ozzie's time was up. His constant whining and absence from the organization for a decade didn't help his case either.

Agree about the absence. But I mean, he was getting replaced by Royce friggin Clayton. It's not like Derek Jeter was taking his job. I understand why he was pissed.

More talented offensively than the early 90's of the Braves but the Braves teams from '97 up to '03 were loaded offensively.

It’s clearly LaRussa. He should probably have more than 3 WS wins, but look at a couple he did win: no business winning in ‘06 based on body of work, and pulled a rabbit out of the hat in ‘11. The guys also seemed to elevate every team he took over.
Took over a hapless Sox team in ‘79 and got them to the ALCS in ‘83. Took over a gutted A’s squad and promptly advanced to three WS, winning one. Took over the Cardinals when they hadn’t won a division title in 9 years and winds up turning them into perennial contenders.

Cox was very good at managing people but was clueless as a strategist and making game day decisions
Dude has the best roster on paper in baseball for 12 years. Won 1 world series.
fricking disappointment.

La Russa losing to the '88 Dodgers is unconscionable.

He lost to the WORST WS lineup of ALL-TIME with the Bash Brothers who do won about a million games that year.
Bobby choked alot but most likely didn't get two feet off the plate strikes in the WS like he got in the NL.
But those As should've won four in A row and the Florida State Braves should've won more than one.

Bobby should have one more WS maybe two. 1996 should have been a win for sure. I was at Game 4 when it all came apart. Jim effin Leyritz. I can still see that damn home run going over the wall. 1991 could have gone either way. 1992 and 1999, the Blue Jays and Yanks were just better teams.
