Who would be best equipped to win the CFP with a backup QB?

When looking at the top contenders, most of the top 5-6 have a very good signal caller. Bama is excluded because their starter is already out.

Burrow
Lawrence
Fields
Hurts
Herbert
Fromm

If one of those guys were to go down, which team do you think would have the best chance to continue and make/win the playoffs?

LSU probably has the most highly recruited backup qb in Brennan, but LSU has shown more chinks in their defense this season than some of the other contenders.

OSU has a backup who never played at WVU, but their defense could potentially keep them in games and they have a stout run game.

Clemson's backup (I believe) is the same as last year, and he has shown he can come in and make some plays when needed, as he came in last year and helped win the game against Syracuse. Again they seem to be a good d who can withstand a loss better and have a good run game as well

So who do you think is most capable of pulling a 2014 OSU and winning with a backup? Or would the hill be too steep?

Hoping we see no more injuries like Tua's last weekend of course

Rattler could come in for Hurts and OU may be better.

Also, Rattler was a much more heralded recruit than Brennan (11th nationally overall versus 152nd).

Interesting question. I think like you said, Okudah and Young could put the offense on their backs for Osu

I'd usually say whoever has the best D, so UGA? I have no idea who their backup is tho.

I'd have to say Clemson because he came in and won a game for them. I don't have faith in Chuganov.

BTW, the Ohio State backup is a transfer from West Virginia. Gunnar Hoak is third string and he transferred from Kentucky.

This. OSU w/o Fields would have to keep up with LSU's offense. LSU w/o Burrow would have to deal with OSU's defense. Neither is very promising.

Pretty easy to me and the answer is Clemson. It wouldn't be ideal but he has the most snaps when the game is still in doubt. All these teams would be in trouble though if their starter went down.

Ohio State for sure. Dobbins plus that defense could keep them in any game.

Either Clemson because of experience or OU because of talent

Does Ohio State have a back up? But their defense is good and they have a good running game

Same with UGA but again you’re gonna have to throw some to win.

Oregon doesn’t have a chance with their starter

I guess I am not as sold on Clemson as some of you, especially without Lawrence. Their backup played in one game, last year, against Syracuse and made a few throws. Sorry if I'm not convinced. I'm not saying that Clemson isn't for real this year, but I just don't really know, with the losses from last year's defense, and with that schedule and all. But, they do have a great RB that they could ride, and possibly be successful enough.

I don't think that LSU could overcome losing Burrow with that defense, and while CEH is an exceptional player, I don't think that they could give him a workhorse load as a viable gameplan + I am not convinced that Brennan is that good. I totally could be wrong about CEH though in this regard.

I know nothing about Fields's backup, but they could give Dobbins a mule's load, and with serviceable QB play, and that defense, I could see them being the best equipped.

Rattler is supposed to be really good, but he is an inexperienced freshman. Have we seen freshman QBs come in and ball out? Sure. Is it the norm? Absolutely not. I don't think that their defense and run game(without Hurts) is good enough to be the best equipped.

Herbert's backup I know nothing about, but I am just gonig to assume that Oregon isn't the correct answer here.

Again, I know nothing about Fromm's backup, but if he could be at all serviceable, they could possibly ride the back of Swift and Herrien, along with that defense.

our backup is a small white former walkon. Our wide receivers have a hard enough time doing anything productive with fromm...if he went down out season would absolutely be over.

Clemson’s Chase Brice has played a lot of football the last two years. If Lawrence were to go down I’d be pretty confident Brice would get the ball where it needs to go playing with the starting offense.

While Herbert is putting up amazing #s, the offense isn't really clicking on all cylinders.

It's Oregon's Defense nobody is talking about which is winning them all their games.

This is the best defense Oregon's ever had and really carrying them when the offense sputters with 3 and outs.

That is where you are wrong, they have a run game that absolutely can win a game and a D Line that is getting better, they have possibly the next great DE/LB who is a true Frosh (Thibodaux). The issue is the Secondary if it starts doing what it did vs Auburn, then they would be in trouble. Add the Country's best QB to that mix, they will be a tough out. They will won 12 in a row, IDGAF how you try to spin it, that is man's work.

Justin Hebert is the country's best QB and will be the first QB drafted. Sorry you don't watch him enough to understand that.
