1991: Miami vs. Washington

That UW defense was evil. Flat out evil. And as always in that era, they had a terrific QB (Hobert). As long as the title game is not in Miami, UW wins. but Miami always lost outside of the state of Florida.

They both played Nebraska. UW's D gave up 21. Miami's D bageled them.

Miami was a different team in the Orange Bowl. The knock on them for a decade is they played like garbage against good teams on the road. They beat Nebraska huge in Miami. UW beat them in Lincoln. I'd take UW over Miami on a neutral field. Hell, I'd take almost any top ten team over 80s era Miami on a neutral field.

Nebraska was in the midst of the greatest dynasty of my lifetime. Nebraska would've killed them.

DYNASTY??? OK. But this team was not as good as the others.... MICH was a VERY VERY good team that year..........

one time where I remember them winning was at the Sugar Bowl against Alabama on New Year's Day 1990.

But of course, Alabama trashed them the next time they played at the Superdome.

that 1990 Sugar Bowl shouldn't have been a close game though so you're on to something. Miami was the superior team and had a suffocating run defense. Yet they only managed to be an overachieving Bama team 33-25. There was also a very controversial fumble that was not called in that game. The fumble happened inside the 20 yard line as Miami was driving in for a score. But the refs blew a call on a Leonard Conley fumble and Miami kept the ball. They later scored a TD on the drive, but I figured it was worth mentioning seeing how they only won by 8 points.

LSU was loaded. They weren't losing to anybody that year.

Research? not even once.

They beat #1 Oklahoma in Norman in 1985
They beat #4 Michigan in Ann Arbor in 1988
They beat #9 Alabama in The Sugar Bowl in 1989
They beat #6 Syracuse in Syracuse in 1992

USC would have dominated LSU in 03. Anyone outside the state of louisiana would agree.

Reggie and Lendale White would have ran all over LSU's defense and Leinart would have picked them apart. Game would be over by the 4th quarter.

I'd go with USC as well. They lost in triple ot to Aaron Rodgers, whereas LSU got smashed by Ron Zook.
