How? If the Braves didn't own Stras as much as they do, I would be worried about their rotation. 1-2-3 is pretty good, but 4 and 5 are ? And all 5 of our starters having sub 3 ERA's. I'm sure they will turn it around, but JZim and Stras have 8 and 6 ERA's respectfully.

It's April 10th

Will probably still combine to hit 30-35 HR's

And flirt with the Mendoza line?

Neither is 10 games.

You have one guy from your rotation last year. Even if you say Santana equals Medlens production from last year there's still a lot to make up.

Atlantas bullpen is definitely better but bullpens are fickle

Teheran-Teheran
Minor-Minor
Santana-Medlen
Wood-Wood/Hudson
Floyd/Hale/Harang>>Maholm/Garcia

Only thing we have to replace other than Medlen is a half season of Hudson. Wood is more than capable in that regard.

Dude got pretty bow'd this season too. He was wirey last year.

I just don't know if I trust RZimm's fielding or Soriano on the mound in a tight game against Atlanta. You just get that uneasy feeling.

ETA: it's kind of like, Atlanta's guys that suck (BJ and Uggla), you know they suck. But Washington has guys that don't always suck, but can flake out at the worst possible time.

8 and 6, though. It's 2 starts. That's still atrocious.

Uh, no. Minor's coming back this month, Teheran, and Wood (Pitched a good bit). Hale started a couple games. Santana and Harang have been seemingly good additions wouldn't you say?

You're saying ours will take a step back?

No one is counting on him. IMO he will be DFAd when Minor and Floyd get back.

I can start running through your own teams stats through 10 games if you think they're relevant. They aren't though so I won't

I forgot Minor will be back soon so I'll give you those two plus Santana should be good. There are certainly questions about your four and five though and I'll take Strasburg Zimmerman and Gonzalez over Teheran Minor and Santana every time.

It's definitely possible. I'm not saying it will be bad, just not as good as last year. Bullpens vary greatly from year to year.

I'm not saying the Braves will be bad and they could be challenging for a WC spot. I see them more around 85 wins while I see the Nats around 90. Atlanta has more question marks right now than the Nats.

Werth looks to be picking up right where he left off in 2013.

If he can stay healthy for a full season (BIG IF) then the Nats are in business.

That plus rendons development has me feeling better about our batting.

Fister returning will give you a very solid 1-4 in the rotation

Nats

Braves have too many feast or famine hitters. When the upper cut swings aren't connecting, they are an easy night for the infield and outfield.

Pitching will keep them in it, but their offense will keep them from the division, and have them looking at a WC spot.

As has been stated many times in this thread...if we can't beat the Braves head to head then we are fricked.

Went to the game last night. Nats have so much talent, but it's like there's a mental wall they can't break through when they play the Braves. Like they feel like they aren't supposed to win. It's odd.

Anthony was always going to be good. I don't know if he'll ever end up a perennial All Star, but he'll be good.

The original long term plan was to move Zimm to 1st and let Ant have 3rd. But then last year with Espi's struggles they called him up to play 2B.

I know they've been thinking about playing Zimm more at 1st this season, but at this point I don't know how you take LaRoche's bat out of the lineup.

Soriano on the mound

I think Aaron Barrett is ready to step up if Soriano struggles this year. Guy has a great head on his shoulders.

You think the Braves lose the division by 5 games?

Nah.
