Remember the Braves didn't have Beachy last year either (outside of a 2 week stretch last summer)

Last year the Braves went with

Medlen
Minor
Teheran
1/2 year Hudson / 1/2 year Wood
Maholm/Garcia

If Santana is good Santana and Minor is healthy, I think it is as good as last year, if not better.

Marlins, Jose Fernandez is the best pitcher in the division.

Nationals win division by less than 5 games.
Braves are fighting for division crown/wild card going into the last week of the season.
Marlins will finish in a very respectable third place, flirting with .500 all season.
I assume the Phillies will trade away their big contracts and rebuild.
Mets are waiting for 2015.

September 8-10 @ Washington and September 15-17 @ Atlanta will be big.

The Braves fate is already sealed. They burned the American flag. It's only going to get worse from here on.

It's between the Nats and Braves. Whoever doesn't win the division will be in the wildcard

I agree with this basically.

Nats impressed me last night, solid lineup and good pitching.

Marlins have a lot of young talent and Jose/Stanton start to the season is very promising, but overall probably too young and inconsistent this year to compete for a playoff spot

Lots of people drinking that NatsESPNHarperStras kool-aid.

Same people probably rode that wagon all the way to a 10 game ending deficit.

Honestly has little to do with Harper or Stras. Their rotation is much deeper than Atlanta's with the Braves injuries and they don't have the dead weight in their lineup that Atlanta has with guys like Uggla and Upton. Also Atlanta has Fredi. On paper the Nats are the best team in that division and isn't that close IMO.

I agree volfan. Anyone who was honestly counting and expecting Beachy to be a reliable arm in the rotation this year was bound to be disappointed whether he was healthy or not. Those counting his injury as a strike against the Braves rotation and the difference between winning the division or not are mislead in my opinion.

Nobody knew what Beachy would bring to the rotation this year because he hasn't thrown (and thrown well) in a long time

Werth with the biggest "frick you" bat flip of all time last night. I'm sure he can count on one hand the number of times a team has intentionally walked the player in front of him to load the bases with one out.

And lost in Bryceamania is that Rendon might be the best sophomore in the league this season. He's ridiculous.

Rendon is a beast. He could slot into the two hole in front of Harper Zimmerman and Werth very nicely

Nats fan here...

I still give the edge to the Braves until we start beating them or least splitting with them.

Our staff will only get better when Fister gets in the lineup.

And a big difference from last year is that we do not have a bunch of turds on the bench for batting. This team is much deeper than last year.

Nats not making the playoffs at least would shock me.

And I truly believe that at bat by Bryce last night will get him back all the way from the issues he has had earlier on.

How? If the Braves didn't own Stras as much as they do, I would be worried about their rotation. 1-2-3 is pretty good, but 4 and 5 are ? And all 5 of our starters having sub 3 ERA's. I'm sure they will turn it around, but JZim and Stras have 8 and 6 ERA's respectfully.

Uggla and Upton
Will probably still combine to hit 30-35 HR's

Neither is 10 games.

Not to mention Nationals more than shoddy bullpen and I think Atlanta-Washington is more of a push.
