Throwing 100 pitches in a game in April is extremely rare in modern baseball. It happening in the middle of March doesn’t happen at all during Spring Trsining.

Because the team that pays and employs him, the Pirates, don't want him to get injured in, the most part, an unimportant WBC game in March. And I 100% agree.
As a fan, I wish Skubal was a part of this too, but considering he is getting about $35,000,000 to pitch this year from his employer in the final year of his contract, when he's trying to get $400,000,000+ total following the season. His 2026 season is much more important than the WBC. Sorry.
