As already covered, 2002 can't be the worst team in the past decade because they were not in the past decade. Oh, and that team beat like 4 top 15 teams, AND the B1G had the best bowl record. So they were the best team in the best conference

Florida also lost to Iowa in their bowl game 37-17.

Yet LSU didn't score a single offensive point against Florida and punted 8 times and won 3 games by 7 points or less.

Common opponents Auburn and Arizona scored a combined 20 points against LSU. Auburn and Arizona scored a combined 0, against USC.

LSU fans have hated the BCS since 1/9, yet they don't get shite in 03 without it.

It's just another system.

I don't know why people acted like it was some true adjudicator.

Sometimes it works for you, sometimes against.

Just like sometimes you get the votes, sometimes you don't.

Same as all through history - polls, BCS - peas in the same pod.

Now we have a new "system" - likely to have controversy as well. But that's college football and the MNC - the champion is always up for any bar stool argument because the basis for all these "systems" and polls is purely subjective.

Just like the arguments in this thread.

The shite FBS college football crowns its mythical champion with is not a system it is a popularity contest. It is no more legitimate than not playing any games and having a committee of 8 year old girls rank teams by who has the cutest jersey.

sorry bub, AU beat Florida that year.

blame your special teams if you want but I just wasn't impressed with that team.

the 2008 Florida squad was worthy though.

I'm surprised that I'm only the second person in the thread to say 2006 Florida is probably the worst MNC in the last ten years. Everybody only remembers the Ohio State game and forget about the entire season. People are talking about some of the close calls Bama had in 2009 but Florida had even more close calls against mediocre competition. I'll just give you a few examples.

1 point win against Tennessee- Needed a late 4th quarter TD to win that game

Needed a late 4th quarter Pick-6 to put away a mediocre Bama team at home

10 point loss to Auburn

7 point win vs. Georgia in a game when UGA turned the ball over SIX times

6 point win against a 4-8 win Vanderbilt team

Needed a blocked FG in the final seconds to beat an 8-5 South Carolina team at home

7 point win against a 6-7 Florida State team

Blows a 17-0 lead to Arkansas in the SEC Championship before hanging on to win late, Arkansas probably would have won the game if they had anybody but Casey Dick at QB, BTW USC beat Arkansas earlier in the year 50-14 at Fayetteville

I can't believe people are harping on about the one or two close games Bama had in 2009 while giving a pass to Florida for all the close calls in 2006 against mediocre competition. Florida only had an average scoring margin of 16.2 PPG which is the second lowest scoring margin of all the national champions from the BCS era. Only 2002 Ohio State had a lower point differential. 2007 LSU had two losses and they STILL had a higher average scoring margin than Florida in 2006. 2006 Florida was clearly worse than 2009 Bama and probably not even as good as 2007 LSU. They are the worst BCS national champion from the last 10 years.

that is the main beef I have actually.

they weren't that good.

overall, college football has produced some dog shite matchups over the last few years.

glad the playoff system is upon us.

but like I said, 2008 UF was fricking bad arse IMO.

Ohio State had won all of their games with an average margin of victory of over 26 points.

besides dropping like a ton of bricks to AU, these are other valid reasons.

i just didn't want to get into it with the guy.

mainly b/c I respect so much what Florida did in 2008.

what was their strength of schedule?

hey, look, they just didn't look like a top ranked team in that game to me.

part of that is due to Florida though

but come on... please.. admit that the BCS has royally fricked up with their rankings over the years.

kind of funny that a lot of these answers have to do between 2003-2007.

No?

It's not their fault that JaCarcass and co. couldn't hold onto the ball.

Cue- but McFadden played with a sore toe.

You make a good case for Florida.

Btw, USC racked up over 1,200 yards and 120 points in TWO games against Arkansas.

Not the flagships finest hour.
