Outside of the major soccer stars (namely Ronaldo, Messi, and Neymar), it's Curry, Lebron, and Federer. Travel anywhere in the world and people will know them.

And no one outside of America or Ireland gives a shite about Mcgregor or any UFC "star". Aussies might because the bogans love a good scrap, but they're too drunk to know any of the names.

He might be past his prime, but pretty much everyone knows who Tiger Woods is, and I’m guessing a lot of your average non-sports’ fans couldn’t name another golfer.

No way Spieth is the most popular golfer. Of all the young guns, Fowler is easily the most popular/well known. The the correct answer is Tiger in golf

hell no.
Rory and Spieth are definitely ahead of him.
After you get past Ronaldo and Messi it's lebron, tiger, Federer, the cricket star guy, Usain bolt, neymar, durant, Nadal, some female star tennis players like S Williams, curry, some more soccer players, then you can start talking about McGregor

The clubs I’m at I see most the young guys wearing bright colors. Isn’t that largely associated with Fowler?

I’d venture to say Ohtani is likely more popular worldwide than Trout. Everybody in America knows who he is because of the off-season hype, and certainly those in Asia know him.

MLB also sucks at promoting their stars

Not sure why you got downvotes for this it’s 110 percent true. Think people looking at it from a sports fan perspective, but no non sports fan has any idea who the young group is especially outside of the US. Non sports fans in other countries would be more apt to know someone from their particular country in golf as he’s probably somewhat of a national celebrity.

Fwiw, LeBron is the 2nd most followed athlete on Twitter with nearly 42MM followers. Ronaldo is #1 with over 72MM.
