there's no shame in losing to oklahoma, i'll admit that. but losing 63-14 in 00, 65-13 in 03, and 55-17 last year is crazy. he signs top 5-10 classes almost every year, and he's losing to OU like that?

You are talking about 3 games, and this past year, UT was down, so that's no different than them beating OU 45-12 in 05, so lets throw that out. So you got 2 terrible loses, but lets also realize Stoops was bent on running it up those years.

As for the top 5-10 classes every year, except for the past 2 years, they won 10 games and mostly finished in the top 10.

Not one coached by Nick Saban, he thought VY should move to WR

I love how some coaches win with great players and its because they are great coaches, but for others like Brown its all Vince. I've never heard anyone say, well Osborne only won because of Tommy Frazier. Give credit were credit is due, he recruited an awesome class in 2002 and coached them to a title.

here are some ou fans that think stoops has ran his course and maybe he should move on. imo, that's foolish. i think he's a great coach. i just can't say the same for mack brown.

I agree Stoops is better than Brown and I think its fair to say Brown is maybe not an elite guy, but you don;t win as much as he has without being a good coach.

However, I do agree to an extent with your OU friends, I think after 10-12 years things can get stale and its time for both Brown and Stoops to move on.

It really seems like stoops almost quit this year.

i'm not a huge fan of urban meyer either. look at his record at uf minus the tebow era. same goes for gene chizick.

after a 12-12 record of the last 2 seasons

This stat is misleading. If their record was worse in 2011 than in 2010 it would put Brown on the hot seat. But they showed signs of improvement this past year. That said, I hope they lose every game next year!

well, to be fair, he was only there, one year after Tebow, but I guess we'll see how he does at tOSU.

his first year he went 9-3, minus tebow i believe. i'll never forget his interview at halftime vs bama in 05. i can't link it here becuase of work filters, but at that time i thought he was in over his head.

Dude, so you are basing it off of 2 seasons, once of which was his first year at Florida? He did win the NC in 06 and while Tebow was on the roster, Leak was the starter and played 80-90% of the snaps.

It seems either your standards are too high, you give waaaaayyyyy to much credit to QB's or you are letting personal bias cloud your judgement. You might prove to be right about Meyer benefitting from Tebow, but you can't determine that based on 2 season, 1 of which he was taking over a new team that had just fired its coach.

I, for one, hope ole Mack stays around like Paterno did.

I applaud UT for keeping him.......Wouldn't want someone better to come along. We all know UT could pay the $.

That depends on who they could get, I for one would be very happy to see Texas hire Saban

People outside the program, or youngsters, just don't remember what Texas football was before MB's arrival. It was apathy among the fans and a 2/3 full stadium.

It was considered uncool to wear school colors to the games and get there at kick off.

It was a seemingly good season full of hope... followed by a bowl blowout and losing season.

This pattern repeated itself for a good 13 or 14 seasons.

MB arrived and promptly had the best 12-season stretch in program history in terms of winning %. 1 Heisman winner. 3-1 in BCS bowls. 1 NC (first since CFB was integrated).

That all means he gets an easy pass and benefit of the doubt on the last 2 seasons.... largely a result of terrible QB situations.

I always love when people say its easy to win at Texas. If so why did the previous coaches fail?
