That's fair but did you watch the USC Washington game? Washington was outclassed at home. It wasn't like they were the better team. So that's why I pushed back on them for a top 4 "best" team. I'll concede their playoff position based on merit

Bama is the only team that has truly separated itself from the pack. The rest of the top 10 is very close.

I agree on Alabama. I feel like they're best is unbeatable, but they aren't always at their best with Kiffin calling his inevitable stupid shy and Hurts making Hurts mistakes. Still, they're dangerous as hell, and the defense is insane.

Kiffin has been a solid addition to Alabama's staff I think. He understands that you have to feed your playmakers. Look back at Jim McElwain offense, so boring and unimaginative, although Greg McElroy's abilities limited it too.

I watched the Iron Bowl all the way through for the first time in years (no bullshite) and felt like Alabama wasn't all that. I mean Auburn did not gain a single first down against UGA a few weeks ago in the 2nd half so we knew what we were in for from the get. Auburn's play calling was awful. I get it.. Alabama has a great defense but it was amateur hour out there and that kind of coaching against Saban won't cut it. If Auburn had a competent QB or better play calling who knows how that game would have gone. The turnovers in the 1st half by Alabama would burn them against any other well coached teams but I don't really see that this year in the SEC. A lot of mediocre football.. Tennessee losing to Vandy.. Florida getting the business from Arkansas.. Arky getting pummeled by Auburn.

LSU and the clock mismanagement against Auburn, LSU not scoring a single point at home against Alabama, Mississippi St. losing to my SOUTH ALABAMA JAGS!!!!

Georgia underwhelmed in its first year under a Saban disciple.

I could go on.

just a barrel of laughs depending on where you are sitting I guess.

Best four teams (playoffs aside)

1. Alabama - tDeath Star
2. Clemson - That Pitt loss pissed them off.
3. Southern Cal - 8 straight wins, beat playoff-bound Washington, offense is clicking
4. Penn State - 8-0 since Oct 1st, beat OSU, killed everyone else

Minnesota, Purdue, Iowa, Maryland, Indiana, Rutgers, Sparty.

That's a real murderers row in the othe seven games in that 8-0 streak. How did they ever do it?

I don't really think the CFPC is in the business of Just picking the 4 "best" teams. It's the 4 teams who earned the right to be there.

If we were just picking the 4 most talented teams we wouldn't even need to have the regular season.

Yes, and it was glorious. But it was a dogfight for a good little minute and USC just couldn't hang while what's his face(Browne?) struggled at QB. Darnold is a damn beast. And they're playing great football. Remember 2010? Alabama lost 3 games but damn if they weren't bad to the bone when they got it together. USC is something like that. Not as talented as that Alabama team, but something similar. And they've got a nice streak going, which Alabama didn't do that year.

At the start of the season, Saban figured out he needed to change to a mobile QB after one quarter. It took Clay Helton 4 games to reach the same conclusion about his own team. In both cases it made all the difference.

I still don't know if we'd beat Bama, we still have some issues, but I'm confident it'd at least be a competitive game.

Everyone is playing for second best. You know this is true, search your feelings. The force is with Alabama.

1) Alabama 2) Oklahoma 3) Clemson 4) USC If I am a coach I do not want to face these four teams right now. Are they most deserving 4, no, but I think they're playing the best right now.

No. you got outclsssed at HOME. OSU lost because of a special teams mishap, but a game they controlled.

USC made you look like a MAC team.
