Agreed, he seems to always lose the big game.
with all the talent in the state there is really no excuse not to beat someone legit once in a while.
For the life of him he can't recruit a QB or at least develop one. Also he can't get any good players from out of state

What's up with WVU not signing a single kid from WV?

Urban Meyer isn't proven yet, IMO, because his success was tied to Tebow at UF
What about when he turned around Bowling Green and Utah? Or when he won a national title at Florida with Tebow backing up Chris Leak?

And Kiffen sucked at TENN.
No he didn't.

They're better coaches. I don't see Miles beating schools like OU, Virginia Tech, UGA, and Oregon with Boise State talent and Patterson's the only coach in college football that comes close to Saban in terms of defensive acumen.
I would probably take Patterson over Miles, but Miles did beat Stoops multiple times with horrible Oklahoma State teams when he first took over.

Yes. Yes he did.

Two thoughts that I have after reading this thread:
1. There's no 'e' in Kiffin.
2. I'm not sure why people try so hard to turn every discussion about top coaches into a discussion about who does more with less.

No he didn't. The 2009 Tennessee team was the best coached team Tennessee has had in quite some time.

the only legit kid this year went to Iowa and he was a kicker
Next year there is a stud recruit in the state that is legit Ryan Switzer kid is the next great white hope

First and foremost, Urban Meyer's manhood was taken in 2009 SEC Championship game. We have yet to see if the guy can regain the dominance he use to have. Kiffin at 10 is too soon.
Here's my top 5
1 Saban
2 Miles
3 Patterson
4 Kelly
5 Stoops
Stoops has lost some of his edge losing so many WTF games in recent years

the ability to recruit is his strongest asset
it boosts his ranking
There's more to being a head coach than recruiting. If recruiting were all it took to be successful, Mark Richt would be in the top 5.
So far, he's only won one big game as a head coach - Oregon. His next biggest victories were a 2-point loss to Alabama in '09 and a 3OT loss to Stanford. I will give him credit for keeping the team together through the sanctions period. Not saying he can't be really good but I think it's a tad early to consider him elite worthy.

They went to the 2007 SEC champ game with Fulmer.

I don't know if you are allowed to designate people as the next great white hope

Miles and company sure whooped up on kelly and the Ducks, as well as being 3-3 against Saban, abd whooping up on Stoops while at OSU. Who would you put higher than Miles besides Saban and Meyer?

The 2007 team wasn't well coached at all. That team played very well against Georgia and Arkansas. Other than that, the coaches don't have much to fall back on.
