Perhaps, but I'd still take a full strength Cincy against them. There's a reason why the Bearcats were ranked #1 most of the season and Kenyon Martin cleaned up the POY awards.

No slight on Michigan State because they were obviously a fantastic team, but they had 7 losses, including a wtf game against Wright State. I just believe Cincy with Martin was better.

When healthy, Cincinnati was so difficult to match up against. They had guys who could have completely taken Mo Peterson out of a game. Their bigs were incredible athletes and Kenyon Martin was easily the best player in the country that season.

That team was great just IDK if they would’ve beaten the 73 UCLA Bruins, like that season was the pinnacle of the Walton/Wilkes/Meyers years like they were simply unstoppable, would’ve been a VERY competitive game fasho

Best player in country
2nd best C in Country
Shot 52.0 as a team

They would’ve beaten UCLA in a series of games. In one game who knows.

98-99 duke is easily the answer.

runners up are...

Arizona had 2 absolutely stacked teams that are on this list, although that 2001 team just ran into possibly the best national title team.

UNC team with Vince Carter and antawn Jamison

K-mart's Cinci team.

Man, I'd love to get into it about this with you but I gave up engaging in protracted debates on social media and message boards for Lent so we'll have to leave it here. Regardless, it probably would've been a compelling game those really were legendary squads.

biggest (only) problem with this team was depth. they only went like 6 or 7 deep, and ran into that red hot Arizona team the prior year, then somehow lost to Utah in 98.

Martin's injury and their early tournament exit was unfortunate to say the least. They were tough.

I went to their game against DePaul and Cincy was down 10 with under 4 minutes left in the game. K-Mart went off and scored the next 10 points, then DerMarr Johnson hit the winner with a couple of seconds left.

Temple was the only team that I really remember handling them, and Chaney had a solid squad that year. I think they ended up being a 2 or 3 seed.

The best team to never win a championship was the 73 NC State

I thought you clowns knew history

They were unbeaten

Yeah and lost very next year to UCLA in a blowout by 20 points...their only loss.

And that 1973 team then...after getting whipped by UCLA...needed two OT's to beat UCLA by 3 points in the Final Four later that year.

And UCLA was on fumes, lost to both Oregon schools that year.

Beat #4 Maryland by 1 point. Lost to Notre Dame.

The only big time team they kicked the shite out of was NC State.

NC State the year before wasn't beating UCLA during the run of their 88 game winning streak - especially as UCLA kick the dog-crap out of the same NC State 8 months later.

only argument against the Cincinnati team is they should have at least made it past the 2nd round of the tourney, even without K-mart.

1991 UNLV was on a 45 game winning streak.

There's never been a team like that.

Only two games during that streak were by less than double-digits.

They beat Duke 103-73 in the Final Four the year before.

Grant Hill isn't defeating...Stacey Augmen, Larry Johnson, Greg Anthony, etc. by himself...he was the only addition to the Duke team from the year before they got obliterated.

That Final Four is still fishy. I think Duke got gifted one.

UNLV should have never been in that tournament. Karma got UNLV. They were allowed in because defending champ and that’s only reason. The NCAA let them pick what year the probation started, it was a joke.

And you can't go undefeated if you aren't even in the NCAA tournament.

They went undefeated in regular season...End of story. Their story ends there. Can't compare them to greats...they couldn't even get into the Dance...we have no idea how they would have done...but they showed us no evidence in the Dance because they weren't in it.

Likely they could have lost and would have lost to UCLA like they did a few months later - getting killed.

So NC State can't apply to the list...they weren't even invited.

Do you know why they weren’t invited? And you know who won the title the year they were allowed in (74)?

So yeah you aren’t being smart about this.

Hint it was the team that was unbeaten in 73. So learn something before you speak about how UCLA in 73 would’ve beat them

You also know who beat UCLA in the Final 4 in 74? Yeah that same team that lost in St Louis in December of 73. Oh how many games did N.C. State lose in those 2 years? Less than UCLA had lost.
