Which Missed Super Matchup Wouldve Been More Exciting?

EDIT: Decided to change this whole thread around to make it encompass more missed super matchups

In 2019 Clemson beat Ohio St in the CFP Semifinals which stopped a potential 1 vs. 2 matchup pitting Heisman winner and likely #1 pick Joe Burrow against his former team and likely #2 pick Chase Young. While Clemson indees provided an intriguing matchup there is no doubt the OSU matchup wouldve garnered more attention because of those storylines.

Other super matchups we just missed

2019 SB: Saints (Brees) vs. Pats (Brady)

2009/2010 NBA Finals Cavs (Lebron) vs Lakers (Kobe)

2015 CBB NC: Duke vs. 38-0 Kentucky

2003 CFB NC: USC vs. LSU

Which game do you most wish could have actually come into fruition?

I think LSU beats Ohio State but it would have been a better game. Ohio State was much better than Clemson was, Clemson got lucky to win.

And it would have been a much better story and more interesting match up, which is OP's point.

OTHER: Oklahoma State vs. LSU 2011. Wouldn’t have been exciting (unless you’re an LSU fan), but we truly missed out.

I should've added this as an option as well.

LSU-Clemson was no slouch. They were the defending National Champion and have the presumptive #1 pick for 2021.

Yeah, and to the point of the words you quoted, Clemson is not one of the teams the OP listed as potential missed matchups.

OSU would have lost by 21+.

All conjecture aside, congrats on getting relatively close to a championship appearance.

Meh, one dropped TD pass and a kneel down inside the redzone to end the game.

LSU could (and should) have very well beaten them by 14 MORE points.

USC under Carroll had a bunch of opportunities to play premier SEC teams in postseason games--national title games or premier BCS bowl games. They played Arkansas and Auburn a couple times during this era but never when those teams were competing for titles. Certainly not to say they got lucky or were scared or anything stupid like that, I've just wanted to see USC play the SEC champion ever since the split title controversy in 2003 and it's somehow never worked out that way. Plenty of opportunities too... just never happened:

2003 -- LSU
2004 -- Auburn
2005 -- Georgia
2006 -- Florida, LSU
2007 -- LSU, Georgia
2008 -- Alabama, Florida

His first reply to this thread said “any opponent”. Clemson qualifies.

We took a freaking knee on the 5 on 1st down. They’d quit. It would have EASILY been 49-25 in 2 plays.

By the end of the season when LSU's offense and defense was as healthy and un-suspended as it was the entire season, none of those games are as close.
