Dude, Luka is a free agent after next season. The Mavs traded a guy they were not going to re-sign and the entire 2026 season would have been a soap opera. If the Lakers win the title this season then yes they would have won the trade. We’ll see. But the Lakers could have signed Luka in a year from now anyway when he’s on the open market.
It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if the Mavs have a better record in 2026 than the Lakers even with street clothes missing half the season.

So you are saying the only way the Lakers “win the trade” will be if they win the Finals this season??? So you have forsaken reason for madness….okay I’m out.

EVERYONE picked the Clippers to beat the Mavs.
Kawhi was injured and missed 4 games. The West was weak and is again this year outside of the leap that OKC took with all of their young players.
The Celtics are a great team when Porzingis is healthy and he wasn’t for that series. He missed most of the series and the Cs still dominated.
You didn’t watch the highlight link because you don’t want to see how bad of a defensive player Luka is.

It’s not hard to comprehend that the Mavericks saw Luka’s defensive liabilities in the playoffs along with his poor conditioning/injury history and thought “No way we’re signing this guy to a $345 million contract. Might as well give it a try with AD/Kyrie at the end of their primes and make a run at it”
It sucks for them that Kyrie tore his ACL. That was a solid roster with everyone healthy.

So you, running jacket, and Charles Barkley are right and the rest of the world is wrong? It is a simple question.
ETA: A couple more things. Players have weaknesses, (accept for Jordan). Luka’s is defense. He is bad without question. But his offense is SO good, according to some
among the best offensive players ever. Another thing, and make no mistake about this, the Lakers ain’t winning shite this year. That roster, overall, is not good. So don’t run in here after they lose in the first round of the Playoffs thinking you’ll have your moment.
