Where would you rank mason miller among closers from the early 00s?

If mason miller pitched 20 years ago how would he rank among Rivera, Hoffman, lidge, Wagner, k rod etc.

Crazy that Miller spent four years at DIII Waynesburg University. It's a tiny school that even being 30 minutes out of Pittsburgh I didn't even know anyone that went there. He had an ERA of something over 7.00 while there as well.
Imagine being a DIII player facing someone throwing 103. Must have been mind-blowing. Miller went to one of the rivals of my old high school (Bethel Park, PA), a friend that still lives in the township where I grew up has a son that played against him in high school and other ball. He said he was scary with his velocity even then, but wild and didn't really have any other pitches. They say he was a super nice kid and it's been awesome to see his development.

The run he has been on as a Padre is up there with Eckersly….but let’s see him do it for a few years first

I didn't think he added the velo until later, once his diabetes was figured out. Was he really throwing that hard in college?

I think he was more like mid 90s in college. He was also a starter and hurt all the time. People had speculated San Diego may try to convert him back when they dealt for him but with the injury history and how dominant he is as a reliever, probably wise they didn’t.
I don’t think there is any way he has the longevity of a Mariano, Hoffman, Wagner etc but for the time his arm and shoulder hold up he is as dominant as we have seen in a while

He didn't want to. He basically said I've already found a way to be successful in the majors in a way that will get me paid. I know my career will be short regardless. I don't want to risk it.

Smart on his part, I hadn’t seen his comments on it. He will get at least one massive payday as a reliever if he can stay somewhat healthy over the next few years

His junior and senior year he was hitting 99-100. He got over 100 when he went to Gardener Webb. He was in the low-mid 90's in high school and early college.
103 was a bit of a stretch on my part, but still high end velo at a small DIII school is unusual.
