his peers let him micromanage their careers to build his superteams. How many players have said anything about the fact that lebron has basically spun competitive balance whenever he wanted to?

I don't know what that has to do with this discussion.

I say 5-10 range and closer to 5. MJ, Wilt, Russell, and Lebron all have good arguments for GOAT. So Bird is somewhere in the mix right after that of Magic, Kareem, Kobe, Shaq.

It’s going to ruffle the feathers of a lot of folks on here, and I’m no fan of him off the court, but LeBron is better than Bird.

This is the truthful take. People love their politics and putting LeBron down so they do everything to diminish what he’s done on the court. It’s kind of sad honestly.

I love Larry Bird and like him 100x more than LeBron. Especially as a person, but LeBron is honestly the greatest SF to play the game. His skill and athleticism from Miami heat days in terms of size, speed, and leaping ability is pretty much 2nd to none…

Ended up winning 2 more and frankly when you compare him to the LA Lakers and Philly 76ers of that era -- he had less help.

I am a Sixers fan, there is no way the Sixers had a better roster than Bird,McHale, Parrish, DJ...

In my own personal rankings, he's number 2 behind Michael Jordan. He did things on the basketball court that only he could do. He said that Pete Maravich was the only player that he ever played with that saw the court the same way he did.

The man was an artist out there.

There's only one thing that LeBron does better than Larry Bird did on a basketball court, and that is dunking the basketball.

He can't shoot better than Bird, he can't pass better than Bird, he can't handle better than Bird, and they are probably the same on defense.

I mean that is just not true.

Lebron is a better ball handler, better driver, better passer, more efficient scorer. His advanced stats like TS%, EFG%, VORP, WS, and BPM are all superior.

He's done it at a high level longer and better than Bird.

Bird is a great player TBC, I'd put him in the top 10 all time, but Lebron is the best SF of all time and it's not hard to make the case for 2nd or 3rd best player of all time.

Boom? Is that you?

Wasn't Bird's game so sure.

I mean, come on man. There's no way you actually believe this.

I guess it helps when you come in the league at age 18.

Can we just pin a "Hot take: Larry Bird was under-rated" thread to the top of MSB already? I feel like I see a new one pop up once a week

Damn dude, I can't stand Lebron as a player or personally, but the numbers easily support Lebron as a more efficient scorer. There is zero debate about it.

I surely hope you’re not serious about this. You do realize LeBron has led league in assists before right? And Larry hasn’t…

He's definitely in my Top 1,000 of All time, he would be a waterboy for the Top 10.

Feel like this is going extreme in the other direction.

It is not that difficult to place Larry Bird top 10 and both the NBA 75 and The Athletic's Top 75 did both that, and I dont think they are really wrong.

I'd place him above Kobe for instance, who I think is a bit overrated in these rankings. Then there is a case where he should be slotted amongst Magic/Shaq/Duncan/Hakeem/Oscar etc.

Their stats are pretty much identical for their entire careers. So I'm not really sure how or why you're laughing at that but ok.
