I just feel this is an irrevalent game. I get the rivalry but who wins never matters.

If you really think that then you don’t “get” the rivalry

Below: Texas-Texas A&M was always a much better game. College football will eventually kill what made it so special. Rivalries fueled by hatred and proximity. You can’t replicate what Alabama-Auburn is in a lab. The reason Texas and Texas A&M hate each other and don’t want to play each other is what makes them playing each other so special and marketable. It’s sad to watch where it all is headed. As a college football fan there was no better feeling than to be on a campus for a major rivalry where pure hatred was everywhere and winning meant so much.

I find this hard to believe

OU vs Nebraska in the 50s, 60s, 70s & 80s were in the same conference and the winner of that game would go to the Orange Bowl. At the time that game was as big than the Ohio State/Michigan. Combined they would win 75 Big 8 titles, Mizzou is 3rd with a dozen.

They played in the "Game of the Century" in '71. Oklahoma gave Nebraska their only regular-season losses in 1964, 1966, 1975, 1979, and 1987, while Nebraska did the same to Oklahoma in 1971 and 1978. It wasn't until the formation of the Big 12, which put the two teams in different divisions that the rivalry diminished.

Iron Bowl is definitely top 2

I used to think this until Auburn fans openly rooted for Alabama to win the national championship two years ago

You still don’t get it

The Texas OU rivalry was way bigger because it wasn’t about conference.

Army / Navy

OU / Texas

UF / UGA

It's awesome that in today's world that is driven by $$ we can still have these rivalry games played at a neutral site.

For those folks pimping home and home rivalries....F off. You just dont get it.

You are absolutely correct. On this board, people like to list Army/Navy to prove how American they are. In real life, nobody gives a frick about this game like the others.

When I was in the USMC, I was the only one watching it in the mess hall. I just love the triple option offenses.

I don't recognize the Red River rivalry. I do, however, think the Red River Shootout is a tremendous rivalry.
