I don't really care about downvotes but five?

Just watch Dirk's 2011 playoff highlights. He had an array of moves. He could hit you with a drop step, post spin, step back, and of course his patented fade. He wasn't just a shooter. Dirk in his prime had nimble feet too. The cherry on top here is that Dirk off the top of my head is the best free throw shooting big of all time.

I'm just talking talking about how Bird was talked about in the 80's and how he is maligned now...and using stats and stories from the past.

Didn't expect all these millennial racists to come out the woodwork and shite on Bird.

I mean...if you weren't alive...tough shite.

But listen to Magic and Isiah and Nique and Jordan.

Sorry you got a problem with pre-conceptions.

Those slow stiff arse defenses actually played defense back then, a form of tackle football in the lane. Bird drove the lane fearlessly. LJ would not have half his dunks if he played against those defenses. But both sides have valid points. The clown who called Bill Russell over rated, however, must be 12 yrs old. Wilt was the best of the big men back then & B.R. ate his lunch. To the tune of 11 championship rings over all. No one can argue with Reggie Miller's ranking of Bird as the #1 trash talker of all times, though. Bird was brutal.

MJ downgrading lebron is about literally the least surprising thing ever.

I just find it funny...which is why the question was posed. the basketball world now has tons of great white players...But Bird still faces an uphill battle of his greatness...depsite his black contemporaries saying...he was better than us.

So Dirk is now a GOAT but Bird is now like Dirk? Bird was never Dirk.

Bird was fricking Jordan/Magic scoring and passing machine.

I think it's easy to malign Bird now...maybe its PC. And worse the fan comments on Bird are so stereotypical one-dimensional - they talk about 3-point or spot up shooting.

Bird wasn't a fricking spot-up shooter, he created his own shot. He drove to the basket, he out rebounded Rodman...he often had more assists than Magic.

I think its pretty sad that Bird has been reduced to some white spot-up 3-point shooter by people of this generation...when he was Maestro on the court before Maestro,,,Magic, Russell, West,

He wasn't them ....but that was the closest you'd get. Shooting, rebounding, passing.

27 years old and have never watched Tombstone. You also think Harden is better than Bird? Shut the frick up geek. Bird would be a star in any era, especially this lolly gagging limp dick, bull shite of a league I watch nightly.

RealuxTide guy...

I can't respond to you.

Because I can tell you haven't watched more than a minute of 80's basketball

Like lived through a game.

I hate this Youtube crap...doesn't mean shite. Doesn't prove anytyhing.

You have to sit there and watch a game in that time to see horribleness or see greatness.

So I don't trust your opinion...someone who was never in the moment.

You are like the guy with the blurry Moon photo and wondering "is this the Moon"

You are still wondering.

Why do you watch it if you hate it so much? There are other things to do.

Like one person alluded to this. Shut the frick up with your whiny race baiting bullshite. Bird is a top 5 player. You shouldn't need this thread to validate your insecurities

You want someone to attack with this odd white knighting of Bird tonight go after the dudes who posted advances analytics like they are the end all

Jesus. A couple posters on the MSB of TigerDroppings don't think Larry was as good as Lebron, must mean the legend is still fighting an uphill battle. Let's throw race into this conversation when It absolutely has no reason to be

Bird's 8-year run was incredible, but Lebron will end up doing all that twice over. Bird is overrated if he's in a conversation with James.

If you didn't get to see Bird in his prime during the Eighties, you can't really fathom how good of a player that guy was. Clutch doesn't even begin to describe it. One of my favorite memories is my best friend laughing at myself and a couple of my other friends who were Celtic fans right before Bird stole that pass against the Pistons with just a few seconds left in the game to win it. He stormed out pissed. The NBA was great back then.
