Top 10 but he’s behind 3 other guys who played in that era. Montana, Elway, and Kelly all rank ahead of him.

Other guys is no order that also rank ahead. Peyton, Brees, Brady, Bradshaw.

No GM is taking Drew Breed over Marino.

Unless he wants to get fired.

Drew was lucky to play in his era, he'd get smushed in the 80s.

Only better pure passer I saw in person at NFL level was Bert Jones. Dan Fouts was really good also.
People rate QB's on Super Bowls. As a Patriot season ticket
holder for 25 years. The defense was the key for the first 3
SB's. They then dinked and dunked with possession receivers. I watched Brady and he was a product of a great system. His best year was when he had Randy Moss but lost to Giants.

That system has been struggling a bit since he left.

Okay, so we all know he never won a Super Bowl, which is a travesty given how great of a QB he was. So, putting that aside, where would you rank Dan Marino all time in terms of overall QB play? How does he stack up against Brady, Montana, Manning, etc.?

Right there with Jim Kelly. And Im probably being generous with the comparison. Marino couldn't stop throwing the dam ball every freakin' play. Don Shula for as great as he was couldn't put a balanced running game on the field when it mattered, in the playoff. And this guy coached Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid, along with Mercury Morris.

No, Marino is easily top 7 and maybe top 5.....doesn't matter his career pass completion is under 60% and his career TD to INT is less than 2/1....There are some real sports aficionados on this forum who say Marino was the best NFL arm in history and if he were playing today he would have numerous 5k yard passing seasons and multiple years with 50 TDs.....the experts will be here any minute.

For me, I put him at No. 1. He's the best pure passer ever. If we're basing this off the QB position and the times they played, it's not close.

What he did in 1984 is alien. 5k yards. The best QBs today struggle to get that in a pass happy league where you can't touch them.

There will never be another QB as good as Marino was.

I relate this exactly like I do Barry Sanders. Barry is the best RB in history imo just like Marino is the best QB to play the game.

He was in a pass-first offense his entire career. The stats will always be stacked in these QBs' favor. Mahomes, Herbert, and Josh Allen are some on that list today.

One thing I will say in defense of Marino (and other notable AFC QB’s of his era such as Elway and Kelly) is he played when the NFC was hellacious.

From 1984-1996, the NFC produced some of the NFL’s greatest teams, players, and dynasties. That made it very difficult for the great AFC QB’s to break through and win rings. Granted his team was better too, but it wasn’t until the NFC started to slide off its apex that Elway broke through.

Who was a better QB? Marino 0 rings or Eli 2 rings?

If you had to start a franchise with either one in their prime, why would anyone take Eli? Marino is infinitely better.

Just before the NFC going on that run, the AFC was that way.

From Super Bowl III (the big upset since the AFL was a 'joke') through Super Bowl XV, the AFC won 11 out of 13 Super Bowls. Only Dallas was able to win for the NFC.

Kind of crazy how the wave suddenly shifted, and the NFC then won 15 of the next 16 SBs, with 13 in a row.

So expect him to have 70% completions and over 2/1 Td to int with no defense or running game?

If you had to build the perfect QB in a lab, Dan Marino is it. Tom Brady is the GOAT due to rings but he can't hold Marinos jock strap when it comes to passing.

Sadly, he never had a running game or defense worth a shite.

This is the correct answer. Dan is my favorite player of all time.

If anyone hasn’t watched the “A Football Life” episode of Dan Marino, I highly highly recommend doing so.
