Things turned for him the last few years and he was never really a great fit at UCLA, but the dude is still a great coach if he gets guys to buy into his system.

Any decent jobs opening up that he could be a candidate for?

Pat Haden should be on the phone trying to hire him at USC.

Texas would be a great fit, I bet. The fans wouldn't mind if he won ugly because it's not as if Rick Barnes plays appealing basketball, unless he has TJ Ford or Kevin Durant.

I wonder if they fire him this season.

He would have been great at K-State last year, too. Upgrade over Weber. And if Boyle leaves Colorado, they should look at him, too.

was UCLA's fanbase just apathetic anyway? I mean, I know Howland would have needed a deeper run in the tournament to save his job but ahhh... it wasn't like they sucked this year.

am I wrong for thinking that?

Barkley ranted about it. They won the Pac 12 and lost their best player to injury and made the tournament.

Chuck joked that Cal better pack his bags cause he's on the hot seat too.

I can't find fault with what he said.

They sucked for 3 straight years before this (or at least 2 of the last 3 years), and this year was supposed to be the freshmen saviors. Howland hired one of the Atlanta Celtics' main coaches to bring in fatass Tony Parker and Jordan Adams.

And even with all of the shady recruiting, they didn't look good at all. Lost of bad losses and they were overseeded as a 6 seed, imo. With Shabazz leaving, UCLA was probably going to fall off again next year with a sub-par recruiting class in 2013.

I get why they fired him.
