I don't think college rivalries are anywhere near as big as pro. That being said Yankees Redsox has to be the number 1.
“Big” as in popularity? If we’re using that as the metric, football should take the top 30 or more spots. Football is by far the most popular. The World Series very rarely breaks 20 million viewers which NFL regular season games can beat.

CFB Rivalries are bigger but among pro sports it is Top 3

In the early 2000s it was #1 for sure.
I would argue Colts/Patriots.

Ironbowl is like college baseball: great in its own right but has limited regional appeal
This is just stupid, I’m not saying the Iron Bowl is the “biggest rivalry” it’s nowhere close but you are going to far in the opposite direction. Oh and just because the “media” fawn over tOSU-UM doesn’t mean people outside the fan bases care, the MW region is just bigger.

Everyone was wearing UF, fsu, UGA and other sec team jerseys at the restaurant.
EVERYONE was only focused on one game: Ohio state vs Michigan.

Both games are important. But Bama and AU share the same state… and the hatred is way bigger that Mich/OSU… I lived up there and was part
Of the 10 years war. Back then I’ll give it to you. But since late 90’s it’s not as big.

I personally prefer the iron bowl since the games are usually more entertaining and the team I root for is in the same conference so the outcome may have an effect on the CCG In the conference which Florida plays, so our rivals, or if we ever stop sucking, potentially Florida could face one of them in the SECCG
I personally care more about the iron bowl
I just also have noticed interacting with people on the west coast and northeast (not even mentioning the Midwest) that more people have Ohio state vs Michigan on their radar in those places
If you ask a random NFL only fan to name a college football rivalry, I would put money that they’d mention the Game over the iron bowl

You mean 7 hours before FSU and UGA played bad teams every one was focused on a 2 vs 3 matchup

Not even a top 5 in American sports or maybe College Football ..historically
Where in the top 5 depends, but it’s definitely a top 5 college football rivalry

And that game started at 7pm EST 4 plus hours after tOSU-UM ended. We were watching tOSU-UM at the Dixie Chicken in College Station in 2022 before the LSU-A&M game too. As I said the last couple of years it’s had playoff implications CFB fans tend to watch big games.

Those numbers don’t mean crap. Auburn as crap last year and Bama had already clinched the west. UM vs.OSU was a top 5 matchup… of course that will outdraw any game….
Posted on 6/16/24 at 7:33 pm to GetPiggywithIt
Quoting something I've said before: The Iron Bowl is generally more intense, but UM/OSU is the ultimate "frick you" rivalry in the sport. No other pair of teams has so consistently screwed each other out of postseason glory. Hayes, Schembechler, Cooper, Carr, Day, and Harbaugh all had at least one team (in some cases two or three) whose path to an MNC ended with a loss in that game.
Posted on 6/16/24 at 7:52 pm to GetPiggywithIt
During the early 2000s, it was as intense as anything. Now it seems as if it’s slacked off the intensity scale.

#1 and it isn't close.

top 5 for sure 1 Iron Bowl 2 Duke/Carolina 3 Celtics/Lakers 4 Ohio St/Michigan 5 Yankees/Red Sox
I’ll offer this regarding the Alabama/Auburn rivalry…
Unlike the others listed, it’s 24-7-365 and it actually transcends college football and sports in general. Everyone is this state is expected to “pick”…football fan or not. There are no pro teams in the state. They only play the Iron Bowl once a year.
Obviously the Red Sox/Yankees rivalry is important from a historical perspective with “the curse of the bambino”. There is certainly a rivalry between the two cities that adds into the baseball fued. But I don’t think it has the same year round impact that Alabama-Auburn does.
