I dunno about Army, but the Navy cheerleaders are students at the academy

sorta off topic, but where does LSU and other colleges get their male cheerleaders from?
I wouldn't think that there would be that many male high school cheerleaders to choose from

the cheerleaders don't look like soldiers
*ETA: and why would a soldier want to be a cheerleader?

LSU offers pretty big scholarships to the male cheerleaders, from what i've heard.
also, doesn't the army have a scotch guard, or whatever it's called?

I read on espn.com that a lot of them are ex-high school football players, that try out for cheerleading when they get to college, FWIW.

Wouldn't surprise me, but where is the pool of recruits coming from?

i was trying to say that women go into both academy's for other things. like intelligence, medical, etc. which is why the cheerleaders are there. idk. just a guess.

I swear I heard one of the cheerleaders yell out "Go Army!" then "Go Buckeyes!"
... then again, I was just walking into the room.

Maybe not in Louisiana, but in other states there are - I'm thinking the numbers increase as you go west.
Also - LSU is a perennial powerhouse in gymnastics.... Pretty sure there's enough male gymnasts out there to garner some crossover.

fwiw, a couple of friends at the naval academy said that about 85-90% of the girls there are brutally ugly, but the 10-15% of good looking girls are incredibly hot
and they're not soldiers right now. they're students. and not everyone in the service academies get sent to battle after graduating. caleb campbell, the west point grad who got drafted until army changed their minds, is currently an academic coordinator (or something like that) for football players at west point

LSU doesn't have a men's gymnastics program though

School spirit at the services academies is very different

Nor is the state of Louisiana known for it's local gymnasts

I'm sure wherever they find their female gymnasts - there are potential male cheerleaders.

i knew someone that was a male cheerleader at LSU. idk how he became one.
but i'd imagine, if you can hold a little 90 pound girl in the air, you could make the team. and the ability to do a flip or 2 also would help.
