I think the coaches film room that ESPN airs during college football playoff games have been very eye opening
I agree. Rhule of Baylor really impressed me.

mean, I coached HS football for 12 years. We ran a base 4-3 and ran a variety of zone and man schemes depending on the opponent. If you’re not experienced in playing or terminology, just reading about it is not really going to benefit you.
This is the thought process that leads to coaching being such a nepotistic cycle

Do you have any questions?

For what purpose do you need this info? That would help us give you better answers.

I coached for twenty years and you’re absolutely right. Books are nice, but it’s so much more.

100% incorrect. It’s not rocket science. There are formations. The formations have to conform to rules. Then you run plays out of those formations that also have to conform to the rules. Anybody can learn enough to at least identify a formation and a play.
It always cracks me up when people try to act like football is this deep mysterious science that only insiders can understand. It’s really not. Most football coaches are just regular people who aren’t any smarter than the average working stiff.

We are discussing defense.
This doesn’t apply.

There’s a tiny bit more involved. Hang in there, though.

Everyone knows only the best and brightest can coach. That’s why the 35k a year reward is so sweet
