He didnt seem very passionate about the sport during the reg season to me dude.
idk, It is hard for me to totally buy the injury excuse

Did Scottie Pippen? He didn't win anything when Jordan left.
22pts, 8.7 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 3 steals that Jordanless season in carrying that team to game 7 of the semis.

Elite to me means he can single-handedly win a game for you. Wade isn't at that level in my opinion.
do you mean right now or his whole career?

An injury is fine, but these nagging knee injuries that won't go away are indicative of a lot of miles and reinforce the Father Time is undefeated argument. If it is a tweak or even an explicit ACL blown on a discrete play, then so be it.
At some point, then knee is just worn out and you won't ever gain the explosiveness back.

Right now. No doubt that he was elite at one point.

playing good defenses in playoff series.

And what did he win? Eastern conference runner-up?

How?
They have an $85m payroll next season and the tax is going to be around $70m. By my halfassed calculations, they'd owe $21m in taxes next season if they keep him. If they amnesty him, they pay him the difference between his $20m salary and whatever another team gives him. Say someone gives him $12m/yr, then they'd owe him $8m, for a total saving of $13m (again, just next year). It gets worse further down the line if Lebron picks up his team options. Bosh DEFINITELY will be.
ETA: My bad, it would be a toal savings of $32m, $20m in taxes + $12m in Wade's salary.

So amnesty him and say thanks for the years. It's a business. Team can't afford an allstar regular season player who falls apart in the playoffs.

He also shot 56% and 52% against indy and Chicago in the regular season.

He only had one season at his prime that didn't have Jordan. He had a fantastic season and came in 3rd in MVP voting. You're saying the guy has ONE season to win a championship on his own to prove he was an elite player, which is retarded.

But it doesn't make the team better to amnesty him next season. It has absolutely no benefit to the team, only the owner's pocketbook. I doubt Lebron would be happy if they outright ditched Wade.

He's simply bad right now.
Posted on 6/1/13 at 10:43 pm to THRILLHO
Nope. You can say he was elite for that year, but I don't think he was for a substantial part of his career.

I'm not an expert on the NBA contracts so forgive me. I just see it as a waste of money. In two years this team will be blown up. They got at least 1 ring from it and maybe another, but its evident that they have some major holes.

he played his most efficient season to date.
fricked up knee ruining him in the playoffs, which has severely hindered his performance.

D-Wade started going down the very minute Lebron showed up, just isn't being used to his full potential.

When did Wade hurt his knee?
Posted on 6/1/13 at 11:01 pm to 1fairbank
He doesn't have to do everything like he used to because LeBron and Bosh are there.
Hence why he's not averaging his usual mark in scoring per game.
