but I am just wondering if there is a standard "you are this tall, you should use this length" (I am 5'8") or any other thoughts before buying this putter. I really didn't even try the 33" models, so maybe I should go back and see if those are better...

I believe the standard height irons is 5'11", and for every inch in variance, it effects the length of the shaft by .25 of an inch. I would have to imagine its the same for putters.

Damn. I really need to get fitted. If I take my clubs to golfsmith or similar, can they alter my current clubs to fit me better? If so, is that shite expensive? I be ballin on a sequester-reduced budget here, people.

Depends on what they need to do...extensions really aren't worth it, but cutting down is cheap and effective...

We don't typically do putter fitting at Golfsmith. I have only had like one or two customers ask for it.

There is no standard. It's what you are comfortable with. I'm 6'4 and use a 34 inch putter. I used to be 35 and was a terrible putter. Realized the ball was too far away and as a result missed a lot of putts right. I have a theory that most people would putt better if they shortened their putters.

I didn't do it, just noticed on their price list. 50 for irons, 30 for driver, 20 for putter, 80 for everything. I was fit at Cajun Made for my putter.

Yes there is. It's 35(I'm 90% sure). That doesn't mean manufacturers won't make putters shorter and longer though.

I hold the same theory

As do many experts .. In fact, I have not seen one guy come back from a Dave Pelz short game school with a putter longer than 33 inches. Odd... I have putted my best with a non anchored 39 inch putter...

I think the quickest way somebody can get better on the greens is learning how to actually read and understand breaks ...

I wish I could learn that quickly. So many times I am just completely wrong with reading the green. Years of Tiger Woods and Golden Tee have really skewed my idea of how much a ball will break and how soft you must swing on downhill puts (meaning I over-estimate breaks and hit to hard on downhills).

Just got back from golfsmith. Definitely going with a 34" shaft. The 33" just wasn't comfortable.

Now the only problem is that I also really liked the new Ping Scottsdale. I was hitting it much better and it felt smooth like titty skin. God damn golf.
