Who has a chance to make it into the tournament. Or the Swac tournament champion, who gets in as an automatic qualifier. There are other conferences as well, that the winner realistically has no shot to win the CWS or even make it. Do you think this is good for college baseball or the opposite? Do feel that it’s taking spots from at-large bids, who would have a better chance at winning?

It makes more sense in Baseball than basketball.

A team like Fresno State can win it all as a 4 seed. You’ll never see a 16 seed win it all in basketball.

Lane Mestepey thinks it’s bad for college baseball if Tulane makes a regional.

That was a different Tulane team. But Lane beat them if I remember correctly.

it's a field of 64. if you lose your spot to an automatic qualifier, then you shouldnt be in it.

They won't win, but they may upset a high seed early on. Upsets like that are great entertainment.

Didn’t Fresno State and UM win it all as a 4 seed? Baseball is a peculiar sport. Some teams are consistent, some peak too early, and others get hot at the end of the year.

I’m all for Tulane getting in.

Ole Miss was a 3 seed. They were an at large.

Fresno St was a 4 seed and had to win their conference tournament to get in.

Quite honestly, in all fairness to good teams missing the tournament, any team with a losing record should not be eligible, even if they win their conference tournament. I don’t think highly of any coach or team accepting a tournament bid when they had a losing season. They are taking a spot from a more deserving team.

Ole Miss last year was one of the lasts ones in. Under different circumstances their spot could have been “taken”.

Went 12 innings to do it, too.

Those days are gone forever.

I don’t think you’ll ever see an SEC team lower than a 3 seed.

I kinda share the same sentiment. When I see teams with these horrible records, it makes me wanna ( I hate this word and the way it’s used so much in society) cringe. In Fresno St case, their record wasn’t horrible. They were like 10 games over .500 heading into the tournament and they were preseasoned ranked.

Tulane has a talented enough team that we should be able to steal a transfer or two or 3 from, if anything. They played a very difficult OOC schedule and came up short. By like a shite ton of games.

At this point of the season, Greenies are a much better hitting team than the Tigers... Greenies hitters are improving, and Tigers hitters are regressing... and please don't blame it on the pitching!

I have always felt that if the auto qualifier for a league would not have earned an at-large bid on their own, then the lowest at-large team from their own conference should be the team displaced. Another bubble team should not lose their bid because the teams in that conference did not defend their own spot.
