sanders will continue to put up garbage time numbers while they lose the majority of their remaining games

but voters are so anti giving it to someone two years in a row so if someone has similar numbers to williams, they will go in the direction of the new player

will they vote for garbage time hero on a losing team

This is the correct answer. He won the Heisman despite leading Notre Dame to a losing record in 1956.

The answer is the team I posted in the name a random game thread...BYU...Ty Detmer.

BYU got blown out in their last two games...124-42...and dropped from #4 in the AP Poll to #22.

Obviously, but I assumed OP meant in modern Heisman history. Although, he is a moron, so can’t be sure.

Jason White had back to back losses to K St and LSU

Caleb Williams lost to Utah and Tulane

This and 2007 Florida with Tebow. Both teams were 9-3. Unless you include the bowl games that happen after the ceremony in which case Baylor finished 10-3 and Florida finished 9-4.

Oh and 2016 Louisville was also 9-3 when Lamar Jackson won the Heisman, and lost to LSU in the bowl to also finish 9-4.

Don’t know if it’s the best answer but Lamar Jackson’s Louisville team lost their last 3 games including 2 blowout losses

yep, these are good answers. great examples of players who finished awfully after recieving the award.

the Detmer answer is good too.

Detmer went 23-68, 5 Int, 4 Tds in his last two games and those blowouts were to 6-5 Hawaii and TAMU in the Holiday Bowl (in which he left the game due to injury.)

I think right about this time, the Heisman QB curse was in full swing and Detmer made it seem totally real after Vinny Testaverde and Gino Torretta shitting the bed against Penn State and Alabama in their respective defacto National Championship games.

Went 1-2 vs A&M and lost 55-28 to a 6-6 A&M his Heisman season.

But yeah, not gonna lie, he was pretty insane for the Bears.
