Not necessarily hating on it - but wondering why it hosts such big events (Super Bowls, CFP Championship Games, etc)? Seems kind of small and ordinary (other than the pirate ship). I guess maybe because of the mild climate?

Its in Florida. The weather is better than most of the rest of the country during those events.

One of the reasons why Miami, New Orleans and San Diego have hosted so many SBs.

It all comes down to weather and hotel accommodations for large events. Capacity is meaningless since ticket prices can be scaled to make whatever money is needed/expected.

It’s not.
It’s just a cheap area with hot weather during Jan/Feb where they can get a ton of hotels and whatnot for a lot of people coming in

I haven't seen anyone saying that it's anything special. Its location (warm weather) is special. Big events like the SB tend to gravitate toward warm-weather cities.

Nothing, but its in Florida and warm. Also since its surrounded by nothing its a much cheaper location for big events since all of the extra stuff, vendors, tv productions, etc. can just setup in fields and parking lots beside the stadium.

As a gameday experience its very mediocre, not walkable to anything and not much shiny new stuff.

It doesn’t make any sense to have any big football game in Tampa when Miami is right down the road.
