Mack is the only one to show that worth.

Mack for sure.
Tunsil possibly.
Ramsey maybe.

The two first round picks the Bears gave up for Mack were Josh Jacobs and Damon Arnette. Mack is easily worth that.
They also received a pick that became future HoFer Bryan Edwards.

Yeah and they’re still looking for an edge rusher. And none of those players are that.
Almost every team needs to pay someone at some point.
The best thing you can do is hope for a QB in a cheap contract.

to be fair, their defense was meh with him. paying him would be crippling as well.

I think the three most valuable positions in football right now are
QB
Edge rusher and OT
End of the day. QB matters ten times more than any other position. You basically need 3-4 hall of famers on defense to make up for an average QB(see Ravens and Bucs titles). So unless you can produce Barber, Sapp, Brooks, and Lynch on that side of the field paying two first rounders for a defenders while having a shite QB is a terrible investment.

If the Bears has drafted Watson it Mahommes the trade would be a steal as they might have won the super bowl in the last two years.

Ricky Williams wasn’t worth a whole years draft.
I’d say the falcons did ok with giving away most their picks for Julio but no telling where they might be with those picks instead of drafting Julio

So in the first half of the list, none of the teams who received those players made a Super Bowl with that player and actually none of them even made a CCG.
As for the teams who got the picks:
Seattle used one of their first rounders to select Shaun Alexander who was on the 2000s All Decade team and led them to a Super Bowl appearance.
The Jets used one of their first rounders to select John Abraham who will be a Hall of Famer.
The Saints uses the assets from the Williams trade to get Jon Stinchcomb and Charles Grant who were starters on the Super Bowl team.
The players the Broncos got for Cutler were meh (Orton) to trash (Alphonso Smith), but them sucking did help the Broncos get a high enough pick to select Von Miller and with no QB on the roster, led Elway to pursue Manning. So while the picks sucked, they did enable the Broncos to find their franchise’s greatest 4 year run outside of the late 90s.
So yeah generally speaking the team that gives up the big player wins the trade.
