Yeah it's kind of funny when I listen to local sports talk radio apparently a lot of kids are huge into lacrosse in J-ville and they have a lot of international rugby matches and stuff like that. The Players championship also does very well. The population is very young and I feel like it will take a few generations for the jaguars to actually get their own following.
The stadium is a pile of crap for being relatively new. It's like a bigger, less dump qualcom where you have to block off several sections with tarps. I think the capacity sans tarps is actually around 80k.

Prior to Benson buying the Saints the previous owner was looking to sell to a Jacksonville group.

Bud Adams first threatened to move the Oilers to Jacksonville around '89/'90 if the city didn't upgrade the Astrodome, which it did by removing the bad arse scoreboard.

Jax is a Gator town from what I can tell. At least that's what I see here in Jax Beach.

Good question, it's sad that a city this big still gets blacked-out on TV. This city lacks interest in any sport that doesn't involve UF.

They're on the way to Los Angeles, I always thought San Antonio or Memphis would be cool NFL cities..

Back when Jax was chosen I was listening to Buddy D's radio show. Tom Benson was on the selection committee and he was quoted as saying Jax was a good choice for the NFL b/c they'd be "The only game in town"

biggest city in the US land wise not in Alaska...
Because they annexed the entire county. Size doesn't really mean anything.

I think the city of Jacksonville is in 4 different counties

All of Jacksonville is in Duval County. It's a consolidated city-county.
It's such a shitty city because it's full of white trash redneck Gator fans that don't know anything about geography.

there's a Bills bar in St. Augustine. Saw it when I was down there a couple weeks ago.

They had a grand total of zero blackouts last season.

It's really small for an NFL city. In order to sell out they need 8% of the city's population or 5% of their entire metro to go to the games. Compare that to Atlanta where they can sell out with 1.5% of the metro attending or LA which would only need 0.4%. It's a lot to expect of any metro under 3 million to sell out consistently with a mediocre or bad team unless there's just not much else to do there or people are really into the team.
