1) football - men of a wide range in height/weight can play (kickers-linemen), ultimate team sport in my eyes. Requires every man on the field for 98% of plays (made up stat); and most importantly it us the most fun sport to watch

2) swimming, or any pure racing sport. Athleticism is of ultimate importance, you keep a team focus with requirement of purely individual effort. You're racing yourself as much as you are your opponent. It's easier to give in to your own will than to give in to an opponent. Much less fun for audience.

Lacrosse,

fast paced action....game rarely stops like soccer

High scoring, four point swings are common. Some guys can shoot around 100mph

Big hits, the guys take it to the cage knowing they're going ot get slammed by a guy with a 6 foot stick...either dish or shot.

Fast breaks, controlled offense, and EMO (Power Play)

Wrestling: Put him on his back. I know there's a ton of little things but it's fun to watch.

Wow. How did I not think of this?

The answer is wrestling.

Name another sport where people of various skill levels can compete on the same field? One where a 20 handicapper can get as much enjoyment out of it as a 2 handicapper?

I assumed we were talking about professional sports, but your point is definitely valid and what makes golf great. My point about loosening up the rules a little was speaking more towards the little technicalities that can have a huge effect on the outcome of golf tournaments. Things like Tiger's drop at Augusta or his ball wobbling in the trees last year drive me crazy. Or things like taking relief from an unplayable lie where golfers have to call in an official. They might end up making the drop a few inches away from where they would've dropped it without the official. I understand that there could be instances where a few inches can make a big difference, but in the majority of cases, trivial stuff like that doesn't matter. However, the penalty for taking incorrect relief and not realizing it is a DQ. That's pretty harsh.

Tennis is the answer. With the addition of the cameras and review system, there is no way you could ever say someone got screwed by an official. The sport is as black and white as it gets and highly entertaining.

Elite level grand slam tennis is truly amazing. Its the only major sport that is a true 1 on 1 battle.

I can't disagree with this more. In golf, inches are everything. Its the difference between a made putt and a missed putt. Its the difference between a ball staying in play. Its the difference between landing a ball in the right spot where it filters back to the hole, or rolls off the back of the green. In professional golf, inches are everything.

WEAVE will protest, but what happened in the Masters last year was unbelievable. The fact that Tiger dropped, with a rules official present, and someone called the club after watching it on TV? Are you kidding me? CBS is good, but I'd venture that the rules official standing 5 feet away has a better vantage than Joe Handicapper on his couch. I don't care if the Ghost of Bobby Jones called; the right thing to do was to say "Thanks" and move on. I don't believe for a second that Tiger was trying to do anything nefarious, especially not with the rules official standing right there. And Augusta should've supported that official. Sorry, I'll get off my soap box.

Cricket - super easy to follow, and mostly everyone has played it at least once in their life.
