It's hard to be considered flashy when you've worn the same uniforms for eternity, and those uniforms consist of a solid white helmet

Of course not as great as Oregon. I am not even sure if Penn State is the best in it's confrence

The real question is who is #2?

I'm not saying I dislike them at all, but Penn State is part of the old guard of college football teams
imo being flashy means that you have to come up with some sort of gimmick or have booster that pours tons of money into the campus and/or football program to grab recruits attention.
Oregon is the overall winner.
Okla St wins for the Big 12.

Agree. The B1G is hard, I don't consider any of their programs remotely flashy honestly. ACC is for sure Da U even though their facilities blow. Miami football wrote the book on flashy college football programs.

I was thinking Texas had to be the winner, especially with the income they'll be raking in from the Longhorn Network. Their stadium is a thing of beauty and apparently they have plans to expand it to seat 120,000 (but I got that number from Bleacher Report).

An oxymoron Penn State is very unflashy but the facilities are off the chain.

I still consider them part of that old guard. They've worn basically the same uniforms/helmets forever, even though they are hideous to a biased fan like me. Considering them to be flashy would be similar to considering Alabama or Michigan flashy.
Tech had their moments when they had Leach not giving a frick what people think, tossing the ball around all game and running up the score. That ended though.

In the SEC, I'd say UF under Meyer would win this award.
WVU when they were in the Big East imo

I am not sure about WVU unless they improve recently. In the book "Three & Out" it goes into Rich Rod's battle to improve the facilities

I also wouldn't put Miami up there. Because from what I've read their facilities aren't that great. The huge attraction to UM is because it's in a major urban city and the fact that they have so many players in the pros.

More teams are going towards the flashier style with all the uniform changes now and what not. Since the new tv deal more pac 12 teams are getting better facilities. CALs new facilties are pretty insane and USC is building a new football operations center. I think the rose bowl is going through like a 100 million dollar renovation.

So if you were an incoming freshmen who was looking for a flashy program with the nicest things
I don't think the OP question has anything to do with old guard/new guard.
Simply put, if you were an incoming freshman, which school treats their players the best and gives them the nicest facilities to pursue their football degree? Like Cuban with the Mavs or Jerry Jones with the Cowboys.

if thats the question...all you have to do is look at the SEC.

Okay...which SEC overall facilities are nicer or more first class than Oregons?
Or are you talking about $500 handshakes after the game?
