They're sitting there watching what is essentially the west coast equivalent of their school make a gigantic power move to get the Trojan program back to relevance and Miami doesnt even have an AD right now, and who knows if they even still give a shite about athletics at all.

Miami offers exactly what USC does, job wise, but in a free state. It has ELITE recruting grounds all within 50-100 miles of campus, easy as hell conference to win and the ability to be the best recruiter in your league.

Just think if Miami actually got their shite together and hired someone like Kiffin. They could watch as the SEC cannibalizes itself even more as the coastal powers cruise to the playoffs every year. It would also be great to actually get some national parody again. It's fun when Miami and USC are good. They make their leagues more interesting.

Hard to make a move when they don't have an AD

Riley hasn’t coached a game yet, like all previous moves for USC, this one will end badly too.

Why does his name keep getting thrown around like he's the end all be all? I don't think hiring Kiffin would be putting a wall around So Fla recruiting

The problem with Miami is their administration gives zero shits about the athletic program, the stadium us God know how many miles off campus, and the fanbase is almost as unsupportive as the administration.

Call me when they have hire a president and AD that gives a damn and commits a few hundred million to a new stadium close to or on campus.

His recruting contacts alone in California will net Riley the best roster in the Pac 12 within 3 years.

When you have better players than everyone else in your league, you're going to be successful if you're even a halfway decent coach.

Why do so many people think Kiffin is a good coach? A great offensive mind, sure.

you just described USC up until yesterday

it takes one high profile coach wanting to come on and then everything changes. with miami, thats probably cristobal but they cant do anything with him for a little while longer. let alone when they dont have an AD

Yep. Hiring a coach without an AD is how we ended up with Chad Morris.

USC’s off campus stadium is across the street. Miami’s off campus stadium is a 30 minute drive away. Yeah, Miami won big for two decades, but I don’t believe they are comparable programs. Miami won’t be able to poach Oregon’s coach let alone Oklahoma’s.

Mark Richt was a huge deal at the time and that didn't change anything with them.

I remember thinking Richt would do really well there. I was shocked how that played out.

i wouldn’t call Miami the USC of the east.

USC is a much bigger school, with a lot more money, a lot less competition, and an on campus stadium.

Kiffin will coach Miami. It’s just not the Miami you’re mentioning

USC finally hired a real AD, too, instead of what they had done for the last 10 years in hiring celebrity former USC athletes to be their AD, when they had no idea how to do the job.

Miami may get a influx of cash, but not enough where they could commit to a coach like USC has to Riley

According to the promo package before their ceremonial four touchdown stomping in the opener, they are back.

He had their only nationally relevant year since 2002 and they had pretty decent crowds that year at hard rock stadium, then he retired a year later
